First week games that stand out to me is, Give me South Carolina +7, Colorado State +10, FSU +5.5, and Louisville -23... Louisville may be the most overlooked team going into 2017-18, because of how they finished down the stretch. The way Houston dismantled them had a serious effect on the nation's perception of them, as well as their own. They finished the season getting blown out by Houston, losing to Kentucky, and losing to LSU.
The reason I like Louisville is because Lamar Jackson was a problem last year, and he supposedly has improved quite a bit. He's been taking snaps under center, which will help the play action passing game, and the running game. He said that he's learning how to read defenses, apparently last year, he made one check all season, towards the end of the season, he saw Boston College had an overload blitz coming and he pointed it out. He said he JUST started to look at the safety when walking up to the center. It's ridiculous that this kid won the heisman, when he didnt even know he was supposed to be looking at where the Safety was aligned pre-snap. I expect he will have an even better season than he did last year...
Defensively, they should be very good, they're returning they have talent at every level, but especially at LB, and the secondary. They should have one of the best secondaries in the country, which includes 3 potential first round picks in, Jaire Alexander, Trumaine Washington, and Chucky Williams. If it werent for FSU, and Alabama, I would say this is the best secondary in the country...
Chucky Williams lead the team with 107 tackles, 10 TFL, 2 Sacks, 3 int, 3 PBU, 2 FF, and 4 FR.
Jaire Alexander had 39 tackles, 5 ints, 9 PBU, 1 FF, and 1 FR.
Trumaine Washington had 2 ints and 6 PBU.
Their best Pass rusher, James Hearns is returning, who had 11 TFL, 8 sacks, and 5 FF last season.
Stacy Thomas is returning at LB after a great 2016 with, 85 tkls 7.5 TFL 1 INT, 3 PBU, and 2 FR.
