Back on February 22nd, the Maple Leafs hosted the Hurricanes and defeated them 6-3. This afternoon is the rematch at Lenovo Center in Raleigh, North Carolina, and that building has been a very bad place for teams to visit if they defeated the Hurricanes in their own arena in their most recent meeting from earlier this season. Let's take a look at just how bad...
The Hurricanes lost 4-3 in St. Louis on October 19th. They hosted the Blues on November 17th and beat them 4-1.

That's a killer 12-1 record at home, covering the puckline in all twelve wins and winning those games by an average of 3.2 goals per game. But the Hurricanes played yesterday. Did they play without rest in any of those revenge games listed above? Yes, twice. Just like this weekend, they hosted Saturday and Sunday games on November 16th and 17th, defeating the Blues 4-1 on the 17th. On December 27th and 28th, they played a home-and-home series against the Devils, losing 4-2 in New Jersey and defeating them 5-2 in Raleigh the next night.
The Maple Leafs also played yesterday, and they'll be playing with 4 hours fewer rest than the Hurricanes whose game yesterday vs. the Rangers began at 3:07pm ET. The Leafs are 9-6 this season in the second of back-to-backs, including 6-3 on the road (and 4-0 their last four). The Maple Leafs won last night at home in overtime 1-0 and have now won 6 of their last 7. Goalies Anthony Stolarz and Joseph Woll have combined to allow just 10 goals in those 7 games.
The Maple Leafs sit atop the Atlantic Division with 102 points but haven't quite clinched it as Florida and Tampa Bay both have 98 points. A loss to the Hurricanes today will allow Carolina to get within one point of Toronto in pursuit of the second seed in the East.
