One player and a bunch of backups just brought the line down to -3, now it's creeping back up to -3.5 get it while you can. Let's not forget, Texas is breaking in a brand new TRUE FRESHMAN QB, Notre Dame basically just needs ML here which I'm going on big.

I agree strongly IntelPatience, this is a 4* for me at the moment.
Why? Because the way Texas has performed in the recent past? Yes, I know you are a fan...This has old school nasty run first written all over this...It will be a defensive game. N Dame will have to get to Buchelle early and often. I think my Longhorns are very very hungry...I think the suspensions based on the arrests from Friday night may not directly impact this N Dame field, but you have to wonder how much of a distraction it will be. And also, if these dudes felt like they had to go out and get high, and one of them thought it necessary to have an unlicensed firearm, are their other underlying problems associated with N Dame this season...No Play for me on the side, and you know my position on the Under...

good luck if you have this game figured out. NDame lost a few people and seems to be having injuries and suspensions at the wrong time. Things just not going well for them.
Texas, OTOH, seems confident and finally getting the players they want playing for Strong. They may have a good starting QB and a system that fits him well. NDame may want to "get to Buechele" but with the quick 2 second passes, it wont be easy. They also have 2 terrific RBs.
But this is still a Texas defense that got torched repeatedly by good offenses and I'm not sure what could have drastically changed to cause them to be much better. NDame has 2 good QBs and some good players on offense.
The game is in Austin in early September. Hope the Irish can tolerate the hot weather.
NDame killed Texas last year and yet the line is around 3? Either the books are giving the Horns waaaaaaaaaaaaay more credit than they deserve and we see another big Texas loss or the Golden DOHmers drop their first game of the year and look to pick up the pieces.
If you like Texas, take the ML. If you like ND, lay the points. As a Horns fan, I am optimistic Texas can win the game but my burnt orange colored glasses might be skewing my thinking. The possible issues in South Bend make them impossible to bet on right now for me. Think this is a game to just hopefully enjoy on a Sunday night, knowing there's no work the next day

Longhorn, with the greatest respect and no amount of condescension, I believe you may be emotionally compromised by the Texas game because you like them so.
As to the six players expulsion, there's still several weeks before the game and here's a question concerning UT - HOW MANY players have they lost from their program lately? How many in the last 18 months? It has been turmoil with massive change in coordinators, QB's, coaches, and political drama with boosters. ND is far more stable, even if they lose a handful of second stringers, let's remember the fundamentals -
ND at the moment has a much more established football team and program and is very used to tough games across the country, they do it yearly with Pac 12, ACC, Big 10.

Longhorn... There is really nothing that points to this game being much different than last seasons matchup aside from being played in Texas. There is no reason to believe Texas will be that much improved from last season. They were pure filth to put it bluntly. They showed up for the Oklahoma game and that was about it. The QB situation is mess and they may end up starting a freshman. As for Charlie Strong, i am probably in the minority but i am not sold on the guy. He took over a very establish Louisville squad coached by Petrino in the former Big East, also known as the conference of cupcakes. He is in way over his head at Texas. Last season, everyone and their brother was ready for year 2 of Charlie and it was a colossal flop. I really dont think this season will be much better than .500. The Notre Dame team brings two established quarterbacks which is a good problem to have. Two seasons ago they had a very similar issue with multiple starting defenders hurt or suspended going into the Michigan game with Michigan coming off an 11-2 season. It was so much of a distraction they crushed UM 31-0. Point being...kelly will have them focused and i doubt it has much of an effect. I think this game gets ugly again, but after the half.

husky - I think the game will be closer than you think. I was at the game in SB. A lot has changed since then for Texas. Though I don't think Texas will win on Sep 4, I do think it will be a defensive struggle for both teams. I am not on a side in this matchup, but I am on the Under for the game. GL

And Husky - N Dame now has 3 returning starters on O (lost TE A Jones to Academics), and if Redfield gets kicked off the team, that will be 4 returning starters on D. They lost a new starter Robinson to concussion. That going into Austin, a team with revenge on its mind. The jury is still out on Strong. He is on the hot seat. Again, no doubt Kelly will have N Dame focussed, but I don't see a blowout this season. Maybe by the end of the season, when these new starters get acclimated, but game 1, in Austin against a focussed team. It is going to be a battle. Yes, I am a Texas homer, and yes, I will be at the game. Yes, N Dame has 2 QBS, but only Hunter has caught has caught a pass in the last year. Texas was humiliated last season in South Bend. They will very focussed this season, and we may have a competent game manager QB in Buchelle to make the O work. Again, teh only play I see is the Under...
