Hoping we can band together and drop any post-preview mag intel into this thread .. There's always A TON of roster moves, guys injured, guys in/out of the portal, suspensions, eligibility, coaching changes, surprise starters, depth concerns, etc etc etc
I usually keep a log of all the post-mag news and we can look back and see some teams get impacted SIGNIFICANTLY and it can go totally under the radar of gamblers and odds makers unless there's a really major splash injury to a QB or something .. USC LY is a great example w a ton of hits to their depth in fall camp and proceed to go 4-8 ATS .. WOOF ..
Couple of great resources to help us can be found rotowire or rotoworld, (one of them is free) and im sure there are many others that could help us .. Keeping tabs on everyone and considering the impacts is just too much for one person so hoping the covers brothers can team up and drop our intel here ..

Hey All,

MICAH DAVIS - AIR FORCE - WR - Hitting the portal .. this is bad news for the bolts as this kid was gunna be a legit playmaker ..clearly feels like he can land on a big football roster. I was hoping AF would find a 2nd gamer at WR and have just a sick offense but kinda back to the drawing board for the unit now .. Wouldn't ding AF too badly though I think they'll be favored in 12 games, maybe just 11 now w boise state being a push ..
KOBE LEWIS - C.MICH RB XFER TO PURDUE - .. Lewis Injured LY was 1k rusher in '19, 450 in '20 w the short season .. RB was a huge ? for the Boilers so this is a pretty good get for them .. Chips not in bad shape w ALL-WORLD RB Lew Nichols back, 1900 yds nearly all of the RB carries LY ... would watch to see if a real #2 RB emerges because one bad night for Lew, like LY only 21 yds vs Miami OH, can easily keep them from the champ game again ..
BILL CLARK - UAB HC - OUT .. Health reasons, OC takes over interim HC .. Clark with just an unbelievable home win record ... Recall similar deal with Ohio Bobs last year although that was pretty close to the start of the season, huge disappointment.. tough to see the same fate for UAB w CUSA looking really weak this year, would def see if they're hiring a new OC or bringing up one from within .. They did recently bring in Darin Hinshaw as off analyst who has 20ish yrs mostly as QB coach and OC .. Had HUGE offensive years as OC w Cincy during the Gunner Kiel years.. also was at Kentucky and they just didn't ever have a good QB or OC or WR's that could elevate the passing when he was there .. LY UCF as off analyst .. If we see him jump to OC then maybe a real change in off passing philosophy .. recall LY on 4th and a millimeter to clinch the division Clark punts to UTSA and loses .. I'll just guess they had some discussion about getting more aggressive this year .. at least more than zero lol ..

Yeah Boilers run game stuuuunk last year, 10 games under 3/carry, a few more under 2/carry .. Didn't help that Horvath was injured quite a few games LY but didn't make much diff either .. DEAD LAST in yds / carry LY and somehow still have an 8 W reg season, plus beat Tenn in the bowl ... also played Minny close in a loss, and put up a real decent score on the Bucks .. There's alot to like if they show up with even an average run game this year, things get really interesting if they're legit decent .. OL doesn't have any huge monsters but decent number of guys on the roster in that 300LB area, a few ret starters and a good xfer coming in .. gotta wonder if maybe the Brohm Brothers just aren't equipped to install a decent run game, been ineffective there for 3 years .. you'd think after LY they might realize what's holding them back from a big year ..
Sp teams was another real dud area for them LY .. but new ST coach from ville who at least fielded avg ST's there .. And already have a pretty good FG kicker plus bring in WR charlie jones from Iowa, a good slot type WR but he's a REAL legit P/KR .. Lot to like ..

Stuff to keep on the radar early when there could be a sweet H2 play off a QB swap .. factors are obvi lead size but also what these guys have on the bench and what the pro prospects are ..
CLEMSON - Recall 2020 when TL got a big lead at halftime and DJ / Taisun would alternate reps in H2 .. we got quite a few H2's to go under .. not quite the same setup here, Clem's O not going from 1000 MPH to 10, the backup Cade Klubnik is a legit ready to go prospect and is likely much more talented than DJ even if not totally ready for the starting spot .. I bet they'll have him in at various points in closer games and def expect Dabo to full QB swap in any kinda mop up duty .. so def a dynamic we saw back in 2020 and not unlike some of the H2 QB tryouts we've seen w Bama ..
BAMA - Bryce young sure thing going pro next year?.. sounds like top guy in the draft = yes and Saban gotta get a backup some reps .. another reason to not like BY's chances to repeat as Heisman (recall TL in 2020, chances got backup'd to death) .. Expect to see alot of H2 mop up duty and lot of backups trying out,... we've def seen bama play inexperienced backups before .. anyone see the spring game? .. there's a real backup BEAST with great run ability .. total machine that prob goes in next and who knows behind him, would expect more than one QB to see the field .. Unlikely to see saban dial up an H2 QB clinic like he was calling for experienced backup jalen hurts ..
UGA - you can bank on seeing one if not 2 backups in a likely big number of blowout games, last year for noodle arm and some real good prospects in the 2-deep he no doubt doesn't want to see xfer outta there .. wouldn't surprise me if Beck turns out to be the guy late in the year .. think its likely Kirby doesn't allow much more than conservative play calling in these instances ..
OH.ST - Stroud might be out next year and Day gotta play backups at some point in the ssn .. but I doubt Day will totally throttle any chances of getting Stroud a heisman either .. Maybe some Buckeye insiders have intel to share on what H2 mop up duty looks like for them?
UK - Will Levis .. I'd def expect a slow game call in H2 of any wildcat blowouts ..
UVA - Brennan Armstrong .. think UVA w the new coaching sitch really needs to assess what they have down the roster and no way they want to keep risking the only sure thing solid guy on the team late in a sure thing win .. much slower game ..
TENN - Hooker .. yeah you want to see hook take a shot at the heisman but man Heuple needs some backup reps no? .. Note that at UCF Heup put Darial Mack in for considerable snaps im '19 and was ready when Milton went down .. Milton and Mack both left in 2020 and w Quadray Jones the lone backup to Gabriel in 2020 and even w quite a few garbage time games Quad only got 2 att's all year .. basically set UCF up for the total disaster when Gabriel went down .. unclear what happens this year, he's got Jr. Joe Milton and younger prospects and everyone behind Hook needs to work on their game ALOT or puts the whole team at risk again this year and next ..

A few other Sr QB's looking at their last year of eligibility (i believe..?) .. def need to consider what the team might do to in that mop up duty, or what the backup sitch is, might need to find one sooner than later ..
BYU - Jarren Hall SMU - Tanner Mordechai WAKE - Sam Hartman - could def see the offense die off in H2 w a backup .. PURDUE - O'Connell - .. might have more eligibility but also really need to find a backup w Plummer leaving FRESNO - Haener .. doubt there's any snaps behind him . UCLA .. 10th year for DTR now? .. UTAH .. Cam Rising ... i think they got legit prospects behind him .. MD .. Tua Jr .. MINNY .. Tanner Morgan .. CINCY .. Ben Bryant S.FLA .. Bohanananan VILLE .. MALIK .. need to figure out what to do after this 10 year starter leaves .. fo-sho .. injury risk also really real for him .. OK.ST .. Sanders .. have to find a #2 for him fast or they could get in REAL trouble again .. rs Sr and major injury risk ..

Penn St - Franklin is nuts if Clifford takes any close to blowout snaps. Oft Injured and he's got 3 guys with Frosh eligibility behind him, one being 5 star Allar.
And lest we forget Penn State lost at Iowa because their backup QB couldn't snap the ball. I can't imagine they make this embarrassing mistake again.

One that got by Phil just off timing is Christian Mahogany at BC. Tore his ACL in a workout and I think most previews are gonna have him listed as BC's only returning starter (really good one all ACC/AA potential) on their OLine. Really low experience on that unit so watch out for that early on without him. Jurkovec important for that backup duty too we saw last season how good they can be even when he's not 100%, takes a lot of hits so hopefully with that fresh line he doesn't force himself into even more contact while he's jostling for potential draft position. Really like this idea Bridge, BC was the first team that stood out to me hopefully can help out with some more

With Ohio St the backup will be another 5 star, in this case Kyle McCord. Threw 38 passes last yr in 5 games. 25/38, 2 tds, 2 ints, I believe.
Buckeyes are a 2nd quarter scoring team for the most part, led the nation last yr with 17.7 pts avg in 2nd quarters. In blowouts they'll leave the starters in at least midway through the third.
Stroud started the season having not thrown a pass in CFB. So how much time McCord gets is questionable. Stroud threw 54 passes in the Oregon game, week 2, next week only 25 vs Tulsa. Week after Tulsa game he was kept out of Akron game due to shoulder soreness. Obviously was an issue vs Tulsa too. At that point Stroud was 63/101 (62.4%) with 8 tds and 3 ints. After the forth week Stroud was 217/294 (73.8%) with 30 tds and only two ints. VS Utah 37/46 (80.4%), 6 tds, 1 int.
Only an injury is going to stop Stroud & Co. Between Kevin Wilson's offensive passing genius and Smith-Njigba the sky's the limit.
With opponents like Ark St, Rutgers, Indy, Terps, Northwestern, and even Toledo, there should be plenty of blowouts for the Bucs. Throw Michigan St in there too if Tucker doesn't get the secondary straightened up! Stroud threw 32/35 vs Sparty.

I agree, Sanders is a huge concern for Okie St. The Pokes took a pretty big hit on the OL and RB, so I can see Sanders trying to do too much like he did in his first couple of years. The offense will probably spend more minutes on the field because of the major losses on defense. I would be very surprised if Sanders gets through the season unscathed. He's a chance taker and too prone to injury.

Yeah for sure Sanders seems to pull up lame every so often .. that 2020 opener was a total killer .... lotta losses 1k best WR and BEAST Warren .. The D was sooo deep that the ret starters at 4 is kindof a misnomer, D-Line looks REALLY good we're seeing DE Brock Martin 1st tm B-12 backing up Oliver 2nd TM B-12, Trace Ford is another bomber deep down the chart off an injury year that is gunna be good .. Tyler Lacy on the other side is really good .. DT Backup Colin Clay was a huge xfer in 2020 but missed 2 yrs for an injury, he's behind a solid DT contributor last year, other DT is a returning starter ... Lot they can get away with having a DL with potential all-cons lining the 2-deep .. That said there's only 1 ret starter in the back 8 and minimal experience as you go back but not many are just fresh off the boat we'll see what happens ..
We saw even with Sanders how unbearably slow these guys were playing and don't know why that would change .. Illingsworth only guy with any snaps off to Nevada, Ethan Bullock had min snaps last 2 yrs i assume graduated .. backup QB's proj True Fr Garret Rangel phil has as PS26 and .. drumroll please .... RS FR GUNNER GUNDY!!!! .. That's def one to keep in mind, we've all def seen this story before most recently at ULM with Rhett Rod needing a lung transplant before he put Chandler Rogers in there who actually pulled down a couple big upsets, really decent stats .. end of the year Rhett Rodd gets his breathing right and he's taking most all the snaps again, goes under 50% 3-3 .. Anyway I'd def bank on Gun Gun getting more than his fair share of snaps this year and have a chance to make next year's QB comp competitive ..
Basically not seeing many additive reasons to ever go game or TT over with them .. Could def see C.Mich giving it to Lew all game and struggling to get their run going vs THAT DL .. any kinda substantial lead only makes me think the offense dies out quicker .. already went under on that one thinking of going again ... Think solid pass team w sticky defense that can keep Sanders demobilized has an advantage vs the Pokes this yr .. Baylor comes to mind ..

Hittin the portal again after looking like a sorta promising USC xfer but he never really became 'the guy' last year #3 RB in yards .. he was #2 on Phil's DC wasn't good enough I guess .. should note Huskers roster is overflowing and they got quite a few RB's so might have needed to drop at least 1 from the group .. doubt its a big impact but an injury to Johnson or Yanez might cause trouble in Nebraska's new Whipple offense ..
SAMSON JAMES - RB PURDUE
Hittin the Portal .. that's a surprise maybe figured he was likely #3 on the DC now that Kobe Lewis xferred in? .. im guessing #3 might mean 1 carry / game at Purdue ... Really gotta watch for improvement in the Boilers' run game this year.. IMO it is THEEEE KEY COG to success .. Dead last in yards / carry ~80 yds/game LY .... beyond pathetic .. even adjusting sacks out wouldn't matter much, THAT RUN GAME STUUUNK.... Purdue's pass game is one of the best and 29 sacks isin't great but its <5% sack rate .. considering total lack of a run game = very high number of obvious pass downs thats an EXCELLENT stat .. plus O'Connell doesn't have much scrambling ability, maybe he avoids pressure but he doesn't pick up yds on the ground.. I doubt Boilers even need an average run game to make them a legit division contender ..

Yeah saw that sad news of the Oregon guy .. shame .. didn't see news on Mac .. media days schmedia days, now the enemy won't know his battle plans ..
Not much in the news lately ..
Ainias Smith from TA&M .. Suspended for a DUI .. Sometimes guys get suspended sometimes no, Christ Rod from UK pled guilty on that but unsure if he got suspended .. prtty sure C-Rod will be there opening day, Smith idk def wanna keep tabs ..
JD King - RB GA.SO .. retires from FB .. was lookin like the starter but recovering from an ACL decided to hang it up .. GA.So is a real interesting case this year w the all new revamp on offense .. Decent runner like King woulda made that transition easier but I doubt the RB cupboard is completely bare ..

JACKSON RITTER - IOWA WR - Projected starter out for season injury .. Either him or Tracy were gunna replace Jones as a starter but everyone gone .. Ritt was 6'3 215 only real big WR in the 2-deep .. some height down the DC but not gunna be much height at WR this year .. La Porta at 6'4 and have a backup TE at 6'6 should help but really a double loss of a projected starter and size at the position w out this Ritter guy .. Iowa's depth chart released and at least on da twitt machine the main concern hawkeye fans seemed to have was at OL .. obvi replacing all-world linderbaum but also lotta sophs and just one senior .. I also note good height but not tremendous size avg around 3 bills .. 4 of em have at least some experience but behind them you get into the no snap redshirt fresh of the boat men pretty quick .. lotta concerns!!!!

Tracy went to Purdue in December. Red shirt fr. Alec Wick was named backup to Johnson now that Ritter is out.
Also note the center is former defensive lineman Logan Jones.

Yeah I mean this offense gave almost every opponent at least a decent chance to win LY .. +12 turnovers and got them untold def TD's if not set up easy scores.. idk how the O is any better but D could be alot less helpful this year .. could be wrong and offense finds itself, does more but gotta overcome the reality of these units and likely regression on the D .. might start checking around some of their their GOY's too maybe say F it and take OSU -19 big, their D should turnaround pretty quick this year, enough to give these guys problems ... def see Iowa frequenting my UDML parlays this year startin w S.Dakota State lol ..
