Rutgers stone lock with Notre Dame having no motivation at all

After a 12-0 season and  playing for the National Championship last year, the Irish would rather be anywhere else than playing Rutgers in a December 28 bowl game.  When two Division I teams meet, and one ain't into it there's gonna be big trouble regardless of records.  Get down big on Rutgers and you'll be going home in a limo.

Thats not good reasoning. 

Notre Dame is a proud football program they will bust their behind out there today .

The players flat out told their AD they would really like to play in a different bowl game. They didn't want to play in the cold in New York. The AD took the $. This isn't your daddy's Notre Dame tm.

Problem is ND without motivation still pounds Rutgers and their high school QB and high school secondary... sorry...  IMO in for a long day..

Please show me a bowl team that has just not shown up for a game so far this season? Motivation is a factor but teams not showing up happen a lot less than most here think and you will see a thread for almost every game saying team x won't show up. Just some food for thought. Best of luck.

A huge part of capping bowl games is the mental deal.  Way more than regular season, lack of motivation plays a big part.  One thing about football, it hurts and team quit quicker in football than any other sport.  The Dame knows where they were last year, and this game is such a hug let down, with people calling Rutgers the worst team around, no way the Irish are up.   Whatever you want to say about Rutgers, they're still a Division I team with Division I talent and the Dame don't care enough to pay the price the brutal contact in the cold will extract.

ND will play and play to win. They have not won a bowl game in a few years. And using the "lock" never turns at well

I have to laugh at guys who post statements like " Notre Dame has no motivation ". Seriously ? Have you ever played sports ?  If you have, you would know that your competitive juices flow the moment you enter the field. It's as if you spoke to all 50 Notre dame players personally! and they told you that today, and today only, I just don't feel motivated. If you actually wager money on this basis, you are destined for failure.

You won't be laughing if you bet on Notre Dame.  Anyone who caps football thinks about the mental aspect, trap games, looking ahead etc.  If you don't consider that in the bowl games, that explains why you lose.  You up for the year by the way?

TallCotton usually knows what he is talking about but I think he is wrong today.  I think Notre Dame will be very motivated to go out and win today because they have had a pretty good season and definitely want to finish it with another win and play as hard as they can and make their program look as strong as it can be for the future of the program to be positive and continue to go in a good direction.

You are right in the fact that they settled for a field goal after their running back got hurt, hopefully they won't let that one fluke get in their heads for the rest of the game and they drive down the field and get td's on the next couple drives.

Yikes, as I write this the idiot punt returner screws up and fumbles the ball.  Just a bonehead play, for a team that is so much better than the other team it's very questionable.

I don't understand this statement . I've seen this how many times so far that a team has no motivation or the game means nothing. I don't care if it's the summers eve douchebowl its a bowl game that means just as much as opening day
