Guys how in the hell by making everyone select from ten games take the SKILL out of it?
Your picking from 10 games with spreads of 7 points or less. The 10 games on the board will be the sharpest games of the week. It Will truly find out where your skills really are
Just have to disagree....Brother No Big deal
One of things I Like about CFB is the Giant Card
Keeping it to 10 Games that everyone must choose from seems kind of weak.....IMNHO
To me Capping is Picking the Matchups you like , not preselected ones

I agree...........if I wanted to cap games @ 7 or less I can do that all day in the pro's. .........part of the fun of capping cfb is the variety/disparity of the lines........maybe instead of just picking lines under 7, pick 2 from every catagory of lines......ie 0-9.5 pts/10-19.5/20-29.5, etc.......... I understand it's your contest, boom............. just some suggestions to ponder.

I agree that that would be a very fun contest, but it'd also be a very different contest (and possibly more work for Boom), and this one should be fun also. I do think they test a very different capping skill set.

10 plays with points spread under 7 .... thats cool with me because those games are more than likely to be the better, higher profile games..... and then applying the point system from strongest to weakest will definitely be a challenge ..... This works for everyone, and should be a blast.
Come on guys... man up and lets fill the roster.

Doubleup& Mugg - Guys i dont know how capping the 10 hardest games on that weeks schedule is weak. I really dont... The truth is IMO, this is where true knowledge of the game is.
I m putting you on the spot to choose a game where it's a coin toss rather than picking a game your more comfortable with.
But you guys know im not hard to get a long with This is what I will do.
If more than half of the people who are locked " IN " the contest already wants to do it where you can choose any 10 games you like. Then we will do that. But I will post the lines and everyone will choose from those lines.
Only these people votes count. Go
My vote is to keep it the same.

IMO it really makes no difference to me what games are picked.
But the fact that Boom was the guy that got this Challenge off the ground so that we could even have this contest this year. Means I will cast my vote in support of Boom.

I mean I don't play on capping or betting on any # of the games that Boom gives out.. but different contests and different rules and you should be able to adapt to whatever the rules are..
To say that because those games won't be on your radar or you won't be betting on them, therefore that's taking less skill out of it is quite funny.
The 10 games will all be near PK games and it's not expected that you are hitting 70% of these because many will be simple coin flips..
If you don't like the rules, then don't play..

Think the 10 games of 7 pts or less is fine..

90% of my wagers involve the SEC,CUSA,Sunbelt, and the ACC so I kind of like the idea of being forced to have a more in depth knowledge of the other conferences. I would vote for retaining Boom's original format. *
* This year there is at least one tv game every thursday and every friday. There are potentially some very good matchups slated. Is there any way that we could incorporate some of those games into the mix? For example in week 3 you could post LSU at Mississippi St. (thursday) as one of the games, contestants could then assign a point value for that game by whatever deadline you choose and still have until friday at midnight to submit the rest of their selections. If someone forgets to submit their pick in time they lose their 5 star pick. I agree with Bustin' it's your contest and I have no problem with whatever the final format should be, this was just an idea.
One final note, in week one without the thursday/friday schedule there are only 10 games (for now) that fit our criteria.

I assume with the "7 pts or less" we will have a good sampling each week of BCS and Non-BCS games, games that are on our own radars as well as games that are not so much
I don't see how that wouldn't be "fair" or "weak" a good Handicapper has to adapt to a variety of situations....just like a Player
Plus these were the original rules....clearly stated in the e-mail.....and we all signed up and paid under these rules
Just my Opinion I see your side too Double no animosity

I never said it was weak.............I merely made the suggestion that if you were to bump that # (7) up a bit that YOU would have more games to choose from.......& as someone noted above, the opening week has only 10 games within the # right now.
Like I said before, I can see both sides of the discussion........I'm fine with the original rules.

keep it the way it is, capping games you maybe wouldnt normally even look at is where it becomes skill, and its an even playing field
They're both skill, it's just a different sort of skill. If there were a contest set up the other way, I'd play that too, but here I'm gonna vote keep it the way Boom set it up. Looks like a good setup.

Mugg there maybe weeks where we have to do that anyways... There may not be 10 games every week with spreads of 7 points or less... But I think for most weeks there will be.
