I think people forget Auburn has had a Top 10 recruiting class for the last 5 years.  You don't make the national championship game 2 out of 4 years without recruiting and coaching.

FSU has great players but so does Auburn.

I don't think either defense will be able to stop either offense.

i'm leaning FSu and the under i think there is one major aspect nearly everyone is overlooking: Gus's familiarity familiarity with the Bama defense.  He did alot of his homework back during his OC days at auburn and obviously had the iron bowl marked off at the beginning of the season.  Sure he'll get a month to try to crack the seminole defense which is loaded wiith 4 and 5 stars and guys who will be playing on sunday, but i don't see this game going over as easy as everyone is saying.  FSU's defense will not be giving up the yardage this auburn offense has been generating.   Going to be a great game BOL

I'm pretty sure Jeremy Pruitt & Sunseri were assistants @Bama in 2010 when Gus was OC. He will know a little bit about this defense. However, it wouldn't surprise me if Pruitt/Sunseri called up Saban and picked his brain about Gus as well.

your right n thats valid...in terms of knowledge of the overall system they implement.  Different sets of players though, even with a season's worth of film should be pretty difficult for gus to identify the strengths/weaknesses and idiosyncrasies of these fsu players compared to the sec/bama players he was accustomed to and likely competed for recruits.  Still think it gives the edge to jumbo and fsu though

Logic doesn't exist with FSU backers.

Auburn's win over Bama was a fluke.  I've read it 100 times in these forums, even though Auburn came back, down by 14 to TIE the game then down by 7 in the 4th quarter to TIE it again.

Oh...but Alabama missed field goals so Bama should've won!!!

Auburn's kicking team was far superior to Bama's all year so advantage Auburn in the game and overtime (if it made it that far).

But FSU backers don't handicap special teams in their games, apparently.

Auburn win was a "fluke."

It is people like you who make me feel all the more confident that the noles will crush auburn. Let's face it the SEC was not THAT good this year. It was a down year for them. FSU IS THAT GOOD!  If you listen to Winston they are not about winning banners. They want to be known as one of the greatest teams of ALL time in college football. You and anyone else who doubts them will see in less than a month.

Not to mention go back and look at Winston in big games from high school through his first year playing college. He gets up for the national stage and spotlight. No way does Auburn win this game.

I think FSU will win, but Winston can make some serious errors, especially when he improvises. If I was the Auburn coach, I would take extra risks trying to rattle him in any way that is possible. The problem is the back end where FSU has a dangerous receiver or 2 sitting in an open area.

(IMO) The only way auburn can win this game is by HANDILY (+2 or more) winning the turnover game, and by getting big punt returns. These "hidden yards" will be able to change field position, which in turn will give them a chance. Auburn will have to be the aggressor here if they want a chance at victory. A loss is a loss, so what's the difference If you lose by 1 or 40. It's all the same. I'd practice punt returns real hard and concentrate on blitzes to blow up FSU's offense.

Unfortunately Shirley FSU's special teams are top notch. To my knowledge they haven't given up any special teams touchdowns all season and I do not see that stopping here.  If they blitz Winston he will torch em. Look at the numbers they don't lie. He lights defenses up especially on 3rd and longs when they bring all out blitzes. Either way I just think FSU beats em bad. Auburn will hang for the first half. But by the 4th quarter we will begin to pull away.

Does Auburn have a top 5 defense? A very good special teams unit on both sides? A heisman qb. 3 future pro rbs and 2 future pro wrs??? I don't think so!

Auburn and FSU are tied for recruiting rankings over the last five years as both teams were in the Top 5 or Top 10 all five years.

FSU has not faced a team as talented as Auburn all year.  You can throw stats about what FSU has done this year but you can't ignore they played a schedule that is 3 or 4 times weaker than Auburn.

You can't just blatantly ignore that.

Offensively, Manziel would've creamed Winston's #'s if he played their schedule because their stats are nearly identical even though A&M played the 11th toughest ranked schedule.  Winston had 88 more yards passing than Manziel and TD-wise, Winston had 1 more TD than Manziel (passing/rushing).  If Manziel played the 60th ranked schedule like Winston did, Manziel would've won the Heisman again as his numbers would've been better than Winston's.  No doubt about it.

Think about it.

Think about it. 

In that same light, if the FSU defense was as bad as Texas A&Ms, Winston would have even had more yards and touchdowns. Winston's days were mostly finished by the 3rd quarter...

Oh and I guess Clemson doesn't have any talent. Even though they beat LSU in a bowl game last year and beat a healthy UGA team. Whereas a depleted UGA team required the Miracle at Jordan Hare for Auburn to beat. 

Or is it simply easier to say Clemson sucks, because they got destroyed by FSU?

I think it should concern you that you only picked one team from FSU's schedule to argue and used a bowl game from last year to defend FSU's schedule THIS YEAR

Take a look at my other replies....my post was not intended as you read.  A wee bit of sarcasm must be realized.  Vegas knows exactly the appropriate line to put out there for public taking.

I find it very entertaining in reading the FSU "homer" posts.  All have hard-ons re: FSU being back in the N/C game after years away and all basically guaranteeing an FSU cover.  I'm begging them to just start the FSU lock thread and be done with it already.  Let's just crown FSU now, cancel the BCS N/C and allow these yahoo's to collect ATS ASAP.  

I'm one of the few (at least on this site) that see it clear where FSU's stats are as skewed as it gets - competition, SOS, etc...Even the common Joe Public posts (which is ALWAYS posted in 1st person context) spewed by these homers, i.e." FSU being loaded with talent"...."FSU would be favored by 7 vs. Jacksonville Jags"...."FSU would beat Tiger Woods by 4 strokes in a nine hole match"...."FSU would lap the entire Talladega field", etc....etc...

With the obvious "step-up" in talent that FSU will face on Jan.6th. Triple read option AND in the biggest game of all current FSU players NCAAF careers, these homers whole-heartedly seem to conveniently overlook. Whatcha think....
