Bama may get a rematch if Okie St loses...even if Stanford is undefeated, maybe a DD win against Oregon, Cal and ND gives them enough computer rankings to get past Bama...tree schedule is pretty weak to this point...if Okie St wins out tree has no shot

now, for all u people babbling nonsense about how Oregon will hang 40+ on stanford and Oregon pulling the upset,im just amazed , u still dont have a lil of  faith in the cardinal, stanford has more than 2 blueprints on how to stop effectively the Oregon high tempo offense, this will be the game off the season over the LSU-Bama Field Goal Slugg Fest i will make a suggestion, if u do beleive Oregon will cover then grow a pair and forget the pts and take the money line who ever wins this game will do it so by DD , i just will remind u that oregon is not as tough and physicall as stanford, Oregon is undersized compared to stanford players Oregon is a more finesse and athletic team the ducks have Been stoped many times this year and Auburn and LSU has proved that smash mouth physical football do harm the ducks--

Mugg -- A lot of different opinions here.

Personally I do not see a way that Oregon gets there even if they win out. For discussion lets assume they win out.

Here are the hurdles

- Boise will win out.  I have no idea where they will fall though in the rankings when it is all said and done.

- Bama wins out.  Although I do not think that they will be number two just based on the rematch angle.

- If OU wins out.  I really think that this is a wild card here.  OU has two more games against BCS ranked teams.  If they win out that means they beat #2 Ok St.  Their loss was terrible but I still think that they sit in decent shape. 

In this scenario I find it hard to believe that Oregon who is currently behind OU will be ahead of OU at the end of the season.  But who knows.

The other thing that I think might hurt Oregon is the rematch issue.  I am a believer that a rematch will be avoided if at all possible.  I really think that this will ultimately be what does in Bama and possibly Oregon (if they win out).

Don't see how OU get shot at nat title if they win out, just based on LSU and Alabama alone.

Even if LSU loses one game, they will still be ahead as they beat Ore.

Don't see Bama losing (MS St., GA Southern, @Auburn, looking for payback and will know they have a chance at title game if OSU loses wk after and will be going for style pts).  So both will have have lost to LSU and even though Bama was at home, everyone know Bama outplayed LSU but lost game on missed FG's and that debate-able Reid INT.  LSU beat Ore pretty good.

On top of that, don't see how they jumped OU when OU is already ahead of them and will have beaten a higher ranked team (OSU v. Stanford).  Also, OU just lost Broyles so that even lessen their chance of beating OSU.

Ok---but--as i said why or how could bama be in the NCG although they only loss was to LSU if they cant even play for their conf championship

you are correct, even though most of the brainless fucks around here keep trying to argue it...

if Stanford wins this game, their playing in the NC game... people who are too simple-minded to realize that Stanford is going to leap over Ok St in the HUMAN POLLS once they beat Oregon, is probably a bit too simple-minded to live...

and Stanford beating Oregon (probably impressively) will keep them ahead of Ok St even if the Cowboys do manage to beat Oklahoma... Oklahoma is a pretender bullshit team (every year), and Oregon is the real deal... a win against Oregon means much much more than a win against OU...

people who don't get that, just don't get CFB...

i would also agree with this possibility... the team that is really in the way of Stanford getting to the NC game is Alabama... on my ratings sheet, Stanford is still #3 in the land, behind LSU and Alabama... Bama lost by 3 pts in OT to the #1 team in the country... if Bama wins the rest of their games (impressively), i think there is a good chance they will get back to the big game...

Shark you are wrong on this one... Bama still probably has the inside track of the BCS title game... let's remember a couple things... 1) it is the BCS formula that decides who gets there... the BCS formula doesn't care if Bama didn't play in their conference championship... 2) most of the human voters already think Bama and LSU are better than everyone else, and think (deep down inside) that is the best possible title game...

i personally think that if Bama wins the rest of their games, it doesn't really matter what Stanford or Oklahoma St do... Bama is going to be no worse than #4 in the human polls... and that's only IF Stanford and Okie St both go undefeated...

Bama is definitely not out of this!

if not, how would OU get into the big game ahead of Alabama, if both teams have 1 loss, but Bama's was against LSU by 3 pts in OT, and OU's loss was to crappy Tx Tech by like 40 or some crap?

OU is a fucking joke!  i would love to see them in a NC game, because i can immediately double my bankroll no matter who they play... but if OU does get into the NC game, then the entire system is somehow even more of a joke than we already thought it was...

Yhen we have both teams with 1 loss to each other, Alabama winning on a neutral field, LSU winning in Tuscaloosa. LSU winning the SEC and beating another ranked team in the SEC title game.

Yet Alabama is automatically ranked higher because they won in a championship game yet you can make the case LSU has had a better season overall and should be ranked higher?!?! Just more contreversy...

I am throwing it out as a possibility that people are not talking about.  And yes I do believe this might happen (as long as OU wins out) regardless of what BAMA does.  But this also would reguire a Stanford loss.

I am basing this in a couple of things.
1) That Boise will not be selected for the game.  I would love to see it but I do not think that this will happen.

2) That the system will also not want to see a rematch between any teams in the championship game. (I may be off on this but this is my feeling)

3) OU had a terrible loss for sure but they are still #4 in the computer rankings (Bama is #3).  And so I think that there is a possibility that if they win out and beat #2 OSU than I am not sure it can be completely ruled out.

Remember we are not talking about who we want in the game or who we think should be in the game.  Or who would win us the most money or whatever other personal bias you want to insert here...

We are discussing what could happen in the Rankings when all is said and done.

Still a lot of what ifs though for basically every scenario.

Call me naive but this is the very thing that I think people will try to avoid.  It presents a pretty tricky scenario

didn't bother to read beyond this... you are wrong!

in order for OU to get into the NC game... the following are absolutely mandatory:

1)  Alabama must lose another game
2) Oregon must lose another game
3) Stanford must lose another game


that means, not only does Alabama has to somehow unfathomably lose to another opponent... but it means that whoever wins the Stanford - Oregon game, has to somehow lose one of their remaining games...

Oklahoma will not be playing in the NC game, unless all of these things happen... when you acknowledge that reality, then this becomes a worthwhile conversation...

My only argument on #1 is based solely on a bias that the voters will not allow a rematch.  That is just the way I see and by the way how things have worked out in the past.  that being said it is just my feeling and so is not really worth discussing.

#2) Please explain to me how if OU and Oregon both win out that oregon is ahead of OU?  This is the part that I do not get. 

#3) If Stanford wins out than they are obviously ahead of OU.  I have said as much many times.  This is not even up for debate. 

Again forget about your bias against OU or for Oregon.  I am going solely by the current computer and BCS rankings both of which OU is ahead in.  Remember that if OU wins out that means that they will of beaten two currently ranked BCS teams (although Baylor will slip out if they lose to OU) including the current #2 team.

So once again my question is how can you so convincingly say that Oregon will be ahead of OU if both win out?  Using logic this statement can not be made.

There is only one part of this discussion that is not hypothetical...

OU has already had one very TERRIBLE loss to a bad Tech team while Oregon has one loss to a great LSU team.  Yet despite this disparity in their loses OU remains ranked ahead of Oregon.  And if OU wins out they beat #2 OSU and if Stanford wins out they beat #4 Stanford.

I am not sure what your enthusiasm for Oregon vs OU is based on other than your personal bias against OU.

2) Oregon will have 1 loss, to the #1 team in the country, on the road without 2 of their best players... Oklahoma will have lost at home to an unranked and mediocre Tx Tech team, and they got their ass kicked!  if it comes down to it, the voters WILL make sure Oklahoma doesn't get in over Oregon, if Oregon runs the table from here...

Yet OU is still ranked ahead of Oregon at the time.  This is what I do not understand you are calling my argument ridiculous but I am basing it on events that have already happened (OU and Oregon loses) and current rankings.  Again OU already lost at home to a mediocre Tech team at home -- yet are still ahead of Oregon.

That is not ridiculous.  To ignore that fact is what is ridiculous.

Anyways this is a pointless conversation.  It will be interesting to see what happens with the games and the rankings from here on.

Stanford will not lose to Oregon this week,,End of story

Oregon's pathetic win over Washington also added more ??,as they barely covered the point spread by .05,,at least for the betters Stanford will bring home the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Dont you think for 1 second Big 12 and Pac 12 coaches want to do whatever it is needed to drop Alabama down in the Coaches Poll. The media in these areas will do the same in the AP poll. I hope Pac-12 did what the SEC did last year. Get oregon to give stanford a free win. And make sure pac-12 gets into the NCG. Just how alabama toss a win away vs auburn.
