Indiana -10 vs FIU (Florida International University)
One of the best plays on the board that has not been mentioned.Indiana is going to be very explosive on offense this year with an experienced offensive line, along with some great running backs and receivers. They got the QB transfer from Arizona, Dawkins, who is good passer, and is more than capable of putting up big numbers with the running backs and receivers that he has at his disposal, and with an offensive line that will provide him with enough protection. The offense also is loaded with experience, as most of their starters from last year on returning.
The key to this game is if the FIU defense which has a number of new starters, and had problems getting any type of pass rush last year can find a way to get to Dawkins, and it is going to be highly unlikely, as they just do not have the caliber of players on their roster who can pressure the Quarterback and raise chaos for the offensive lineman. It would not be surprising to me to see Indiana win this by 20.

Urban - you are talking about Indiana 3-8 ATS last season on the road first game against a Butch Davis coached team...I have a degree from Indiana and I support my Hoosiers, but damn, they are inconsistent. I think they will win this game late and possibly cover, but I am not going to put any money on it. I wish you success with your bet and this season...

There record against the spread has no bearing what so ever on this game. This is a new year with new players, a new beginning. We will see what happens, but I do not see FIU stopping the experienced offense of the Hoosiers, as they have to many playmakers for a FIU defense that lacks talent on the defensive line.

Dawkins a good passer?? He's an athletic big strong guy but to say he is a good passer is a bit of a stretch. I'm not disagreeing with your play but the passing ability of Dawkins is probably a liability to the offense. He might break off some big runs and keep FIU on their heels but he aint slinging the rock around the field. My call is he probably eventually will be benched due to his arm.
But all that being said I wish you luck on your play.

Dawkins struggled with AZ at times which is why Tate initially took the reigns. I watched him. Not a bad QB, not great, serviceable, but I’d need a few games to gauge him in this system.

Thank you for your feedback as you one of the few who really know the ins and outs of the game of College Football. You are appreciated scalabrine. I am looking forward to meeting you at the pay window on a regular basis.

I’m loving FIU- were 4-0 as a home dog last year winning all 4 outright by 7,13,18 and 24 pts! Add BG grad QB Morgan, along with all 5 starters back on the o-line. Indy lost most of their defense to graduation...

I like the over here, don’t think I trust Indiana’s defense but like their offense here. I do like FIU returning the whole O line, think they’ll be able to move the ball on the Hoosier defense, FIU also got a kicker that was perfect from 44 yards and in. Hoosiers should be able to move the ball on ground well and that should open up some play action throws. If I had to take a side I’ll go with FIU as I see this being a 35-28 type of game
Good luck this season

The line looks pretty good to me and can see IU covering. Agree with you Urban that the IU offense should do well against the FIU defense. That being said, it could be a 27-17 type game, making it a close call either way.
BOL on the play
Histrionic personality disorder. It's sad

Peyton Ramsey will start week one. Protecting the ball has become paramount not only in games, but in practice. Dawkins has struggled with turnovers in practice...

Peyton Ramsey has already been named the starter at QB, which is probably better for you. I wouldn't be surprised to see Dawkins get a tiny bit of playing time at some point in the 1st half to see how he settles in.
IU's defense is extremely inexperienced, and they're plugging in youth all over the offense in the skill positions. Not to mention, returning starting running back Morgan Ellison is suspended indefinitely, so he is most likely to miss the game as well.
I still like the Hooisers to win despite all this, as Tom Allen now has another year under his belt with this group, but I'm not confident they cover 10 or 11.
Good luck, Urban!

Urban - that's rationalization, the biggest enemy of a good capper...sure, its a new season, but there must be some correlation why IU is not covering. Honestly, Indiana is an auto no play ATS for me, for many reasons, and its not just that I am a homer. I hope you win your bet, and it sounds like you have already placed it. You may want to look at Indiana when they plan against some of the Big X powerhouses as 20+ pt dogs. My Hoosiers will play hard, may even have a lead, and almost always end of losing...Again, GL
