Temple @ Charlotte Friday 7PM EST *Game Of Month*
Now that the line has dropped to three TD's I have made a max bet on Temple -20.5.
Yes, I am aware of the weather.
The real value in this game comes from a few places.
1) On the surface Temple is 3-0 and Charlotte (Home) is 2-2 and these are not schools that the entire nation would know to much about the teams form or talent levels. So when the game opened at -24, with Charlotte at home, and the majority of the public knowing anything about these teams, the line looked pretty solid. CLEARLY IT IS NOT.
Temple may have people wary about their close call win at UMASS, but that was a game that would have been tough for any team on the road off PSU (a team they hadn't beat in over 70 years) followed by a conference primetime game at Cinnci (The preseason AAC favorite.)
Umass (the let down spot, but Temple snuck by), on paper against Notre Dame didn't look like much, but if you watched the Notre Dame game, Umass had them on the ropes at South Bend for 2/3rds of the game.
Now let's look at Charlotte's 2-2. They beat Georgia State on a final minute TD to win by 3. Their second win against Presbyterian?
The two losses were their last two games, torched by Middle Tenn State 73-10 (it was 42-7 after the first qtr.) Charlotte was 13-33 passing for a 100 yards & gave up 336 yards rushing.
Charlotte last game was against FAU. They held FAU to 40 yards rushing and still lost 17-7, as their passing game once again struggled mustering 84 yards on 11-34 passes. Charlotte was unable to score their lone TD until midway through the third quarter.
NOTE: in the last two Charlotte games they scored 3 TD's. 1 was kick return, 1 was a int for a TD and they had 1 offensive TD...a 1 yard rushing TD. Yes, 1 offensive TD in the last 8 quarters against FAU and Middle Tenn State.
Clearly above you can see that Charlotte is a doormat. Their 2-2 record means nothing.
Temple can rush the ball with Jihad Thomas (which will not really be effected by rain.) Temple has beat two major programs in PSU and Cinn and won against a Umass team that played ND week for 3 QTRs.
Now that the line has dropped to 3 TDs or less, I am taking the Owls. With Temples outstanding defense versus a Charloote offense that could only core 1 offensive TD against FAU & MTS....they have no shot at mounting an attack against Temple.
If Temple can put 24 points or more that might be all it takes as Charlotte has no offense....and judging by the passing stats above + the rain....they have no shot at coming back or backdating.
Again....Temple is off a bye week.
Temple in a romp.
Take the owls tonight -20.5!!!!
Good Luck
