Texas wants to be 4th or 5th best in SEC west? thats cute
Oklahoma thinks they will contend when they face the top 30 defenses week in and week out?
Who thought this was a good idea? These guys are struggling with Iowa State right now so I dunno what makes them think this is a good move. Is this just a money grab?

You guys can hate all you want. If Texas and OU join the SEC, both will both be in the SEC top 7…and with Sark and Riley both would be contenders for the SEC Championship every year. Personally, I don’t like it…but for economic reasons, this will probably be the future, 4 super conferences…if the SEC doesn’t want us, I am certain that the Big 10 will…

Big 10 actually makes more sense to me.... The west in the Big10 could use a couple powers like Ok and Tx imo.... SEC seems.... idk... like a big overreach. Because honestly I dont think Texas and Oklahoma can compete with SEC....
LSU, Florida, Bama, Auburn, Georgia, A&M.... Those are the teams you cant touch right now
So you are talking about fighting with Tennessee, Mizzou, Ole Miss, and even Kentucky for #7?!

No hate tho.... I suppose the super conference thing is inevitable. I dont mind a shakeup every now and then.... I just dont think it benefits Ok or Tx in any competitive way except moneywise i guess.

Please...the only program more accomplished on your SEC elite list than Texas and Oklahoma is Alabama...Texas A&M has not exactly lit up anything in the SEC, nor has Florida...LSU had one elite year as did Auburn...and when was the last time Georgia won a NC? Everyone in the SEC has been Alabama's b!tch since Nick arrived on campus. Texas resources exceeds those of every SEC Program including Alabama...Our problem at Texas has been that we have had one good coach since Darrell Royal left the campus in Mack Brown and even he stayed 4 years too long and wore out his welcome. Don't even condescend with the reference to Tennessee, South Carolina, Kentucky, Vanderbilt BS...You know that Texas is a sleeping Giant, and if Sark backs up the talk, you will be seeing a lot of Texas competing for CFP slots, in whatever conference that we are a member of. That's not delusion, that is a fact.

Fair enough. The only legit reason I see for it is the committees havent shown enough respect for big12 football. Moving to SEC eliminates that. Things are changing fast. We got legal gambling, Players making money off their name, etc.... its only a matter of time

I could see 6 major conferences gobbling up all ( 140+) FBS football schools ... The next 3-10 years are going to be all about the money ... Wouldn't be shocked if 60+ schools broke away from the NCAA for football only ...
I am feeling ambivalent here about that, but there's a very good chance that good happen.
But why? Why are millions and millions of dollars in reveneues not enough?
Where will it all end?
I'm still waiting for the day when major sports spend so lavishly that their revenues collapse when TV and streaming deals fall through and gate receipts are only from the wealthy -- from which there are far fewer. If their lavish spending ultimately turns off or alienates the lunch bucket crowd due to some form of elitism, it might be a giant house of cards. Like the dot.com bubble burst. It will reach a point where it's just too much. I think we are on the verge of that now.
My 2 pennies.

As a football fan, it would be awesome to see them join the SEC, and to be able to see these matchups on a weekly basis. New coach, new excitement, better recruiting, more money... they would be competing for Championship very soon in my opinion.

It would be interesting to see how this would help propel Texas forward or if they’d crumble. They’re basically just treading water at this point. Maybe a move like this is just what they need. I don’t think they become relevant in the National title race without making this move tho.

Much better chance they join the P12 IMO than the SEC. SEC already has A&M, they don't need Texas. if the P12 was stronger and better run, I think they would have have already left the B12, but the P12 is a mess.

Personally I think these mega conferences have ruined college football. As for them joining the SEC I think Texas will get the shit kicked out of them like a bad case of voodoo . Oklahoma might compete if they got a good solid team .

Texas A and M is not Texas. The SEC wants Texas, any conference would. Since Oklahoma and Texas are joined at the hip, they will go together to the SEC as the two flagships of the soon to be former Big 12. You guys judge Texas as marginal due to our recent football woes by our standards. Texas is a powerhouse and a sleeping giant. Texas A and M and Missouri will get overruled. And Texas will be major player in the SEC in the high revenue sports of men’s basketball and football for decades to come…

yea whatever…the current and future does not equal the past…That and Texas has more significant resources than any current SEC member and a fertile recruiting ground in Texas to potentially make it a powerhouse in the SEC, especially after Nick Saban retires…Yes we have been delusional and arrogant at Texas, but the fact is that this move would wake a sleeping giant, and it would make the SEC an even better conference and a lot richer.

you are consistently just contradicting yourself. If Texas is a sleeping giant and relevant then why would they need the fertile grounds to “make it a powerhouse”? And how are they relevant? You’re implying their past makes them revenant. What??
don’t bother responding. I don’t need some blinded homer to explain this to me. I think I got it

Guess you can’t take the homer outta Texas lol

Yep, it's 100% about money. Reports coming out this could add about $30 million in TV revenue for EACH school in the year 2024 or 2025.
The vote is going to go 13-1 about getting them in with A&M posturing that they don't like it. The other ADs would be fired for turning down $30m in revenue.

It’s great for Texas and Oklahoma . Texas brings $$$$ to the table . Not sure if they want to pay $76million to leave . The other schools are screwed .

This might start a chain reaction out of the Big 10 -ACC- Pac 12 to add more schools who knows… personally I don’t like it but what does it matter. College football is Alabama and Ohio State in playoffs every year until they make it bigger

I guess we will have to wait and see. Within three years after we commence playing football in the SEC, Texas will be a Top 4 SEC team for duration. We finally have the right coach, we hope...And eventually Nick will retire, and Bama won't be the same, no matter how hard they try to make it so...

My god The SEC had 2 top 30 defenses last year. Auburn and Florida? Auburn better worry about Northwestern. They can't seem to compete with them. Oklahoma blew the balls off of Florida just last year. ??Only program in the SEC that would be trouble would be Alabama.
