Man there are a lot of guys out there backing the Clones tonight. I have to say, the thought did not even cross my mind.
David Ash being out for Texas is huge for me...the old addition by subtraction. Case McCoy will make a big difference under center for the Horns in the attitude department. He is a Senior, and will be excited in this spot under the lights on national TV. He should play well vs a Cyclone secondary that is not the best around....losses vs Iowa and Northern Iowa at home are tough to over look....the win last week vs Tulsa was product of 4 to's and the wrong guy at QB. ISU is young and rebuilding, not the best combo for pulling the upset.
I think we can all agree that Texas on defense has been brutal...it is time to blitz, gamble and play fast vs an offense that are not world beaters....the question is, will they? Coming off of a bye, this should be a well prepared Texas squad on offense; whether or not they execute and attack on D is another question. IF they can force ISU to kick field goals then this is a route...ISU can't kick for beans.
As far as fading the Horns goes, I hear ya....this team has many questions, but I would rather fade them vs OU, @TCU, and @ Baylor.
The bottom line is the Horns are underachieving...but they are still 1-0 on the season in league play. The Big 12 titles and BCS games are not gone yet.
This is good spot for UT to save some face and blow up a lesser opponent. They will have to turn it over 4 times to lose.
Texas -7
Texas -4 1half
Texas -1 teased down (pairing to come)
GL to all.

bigvern - I am a texas homer and I have no play on this game...I think you and other overemphasize the impact of Ash or lacktherof...
I think case will do fine. we have 3 great backs who will all play in the NFL (not based on college performance in their incompetent coach). We have competent WR's.
The key is our D, playing the gaps, getting a good pass rush. If we do that, we will blow iowa st out. In fact, I think going into OU next week, we will play fundamentally good technique tonight.

Thanks for the input...and I may be wrong about the impact of the QB; but for as good as David Ash is physically, the team just seems to look flat with him on the trigger...no excitement.
I think that spills into the defense.
You are certainly much closer to the program than I am, but how is the feeling among Longhorn nation with Mack Brown? Is his retirement a foregone conclusion, or if he pulls the Big 12 title out of his azz will everyone buy into one more year?
I would have to think he is gone...a great fit is Bobby Petrino. Bobby P knows offense, and knows how to recruit. May not be Texas fans first choice, but that is a good hire.

Gray was the best RB in the nation the year he came out. He looks pathetic now. I just ask myself, he and Malcolm Brown, and Joe Bergeron would be superstars at other major programs. their talent has been wasted at Texas under Mack Brown.
If Texas loses this game, Mack Brown is done with 100% certainty. Its about 80% now, this will be the nail in the coffin.

Congrats to the ISU backers.....that was the pick in this one.
Texas is bad. Schematically, they are inferior on both sides of the ball. The offensive gameplanning was as bad as the defense.
I do not understand why they got away from the run for the majority of the game. ISU got a bad break on the no call fumble at the end...they deserved to win.
I couldn't have been more wrong about this matchup.

yes, Texas is bad... and we get to listen to our whiney b^tch coach for another week...
If Bob Stoops and the Sooners don't beat us by 50+, I am going to be pissed...
I see Texas going no better than 6-6 with 5-7 most likely. Both with lead to Mack's ouster...
I am embarrassed that we sucked so bad we could not cover...I am also pissed that we did not lose to start the head coach search process...it was a lose lose for me and a lot of Texas fans/alumni...

I think that the halftime interview with Mack was very telling of where things are.....his thoughts were scattered and he babbled incessantly.
Sort of reminded me of Bobby Bowden towards the end of his run at Florida State.....just not all there. Time to hang 'em up Mack; no shame in stepping down after the things you've accomplished.
The guy who's stock is plummeting is Major Applewhite up in the booth calling the offense. That gameplan last night was atrocious. No balance, and failure to utilize the biggest advantage...your O-line and backs. I honestly was surprised.
