Because they meet in Dallas and there are many influences located there.

if FSU wins with a 3rd string QB who's thrown 4 passes this year or a concussed 2nd string, let them in.
if Bama beats Georgia, IMO Texas should get in but that would be crazy.
Texas has the strongest SOS and the best win in cfb this year. conference champ too (assuming they hang on). but getting in over an undefeated conference champion like FSU should really not happen even with a 2nd string QB.
If GA wins, then we'll see what happens with LV/FSU. If Bama beats Uga, my tin foil hat stupidity things CFB might strongly want LV to win

@DeezyAZ81 You’re saying incorrect to Texas having the best strength of schedule in the country? “If Texas has such a strong schedule” they literally are number 1 in SOS. Moreover what you do in the conference championship game matters. Style points matter. Let’s see fsu hold that number 4 ranking when they look like garbage in front of the whole world tonight.
I am saying incorrect because the committee clearly accounted for this, and still had them ranked 7 behind Ohio State and Oregon despite their strength of schedule. I am also not sure where you are getting that Texas had #1 SOS because I have seen them anywhere from 5-14 SOS on various sites. If you are saying the Schedule Strength in terms of potential playoff teams I believe they are #1 and Florida State was #3, so much for ACC sucking. Secondly, I do not think style points against a 3 loss Ok State team that lost to 3 unranked teams matters all that much and is a 15.5 point underdog holds much weight.
If you think Texas is passing an undefeated FSU team by the end of the night you are in for a rude awakening tomorrow.
