This was just a terrible pick. I should've known better than to back that dumb a$$ black head coach. He's terrible. Then they continue to throw the screen when it's done nothing but lost yards all game. Their last 2 drives were pathetic & resulted in blocked punts. Kemp is terrible. Temple should've rolled. They missed two field goals, dropped 15 easy long passes. East Carolina's coach obviously didn't teach tackling as they missed about 20 tackles. This was just a sloppy game. I lost 2200 on it. I tried to put 4200 on it but my bookie wouldn't let me...thank God. What a disaster of a night. Still covering the whole entire game. Then the idiot running back just fumbles on 1st down when their driving. Essentially cost them the game. Temple is the better team & they;re 7-0, East Carolina has a terrible coach who obviously doesn't teach discipline or make in game adjustments. Simply brutal.
Why would you put that much money on a team you probably never seen play?

You don't have the slightest clue what you are talking about with that Towson game.
Sir, the final score in the Towson game was 28-20 ECU @ halftime it was 14-10 ECU. Towson earned 27 first downs to ECU's 23, Towson earned 416 total yards to ECU's 427. This Sir was a major F'ing clue as to what ECU was capable of. You failed to take this crucial information into account and lost this game.
You did a wonderful write-up and thanks for your well articulated thought on the game, but you failed in your analysis as i pointed out gently. One sport i know is football and i played at competitive level in my opinion and this Towson game was ABSOLUTELY the key along with the Navy game.
Wish you the absolute best of luck, but don't tell me i have no clue about the Towson game i saw it and STATS DON'T LIE. As Bill Parcels said: you are what your record says you are and in our hobby this either makes $ or looses it. Next time evaluate the entire puzzle, only time this would not be prudent is if ECU lost players to injuries etc. But this was not the case as the roster was pretty much intact from the Towson game.

This was a Thursday night game. Which means a bunch of sh** always happens on these Thursday night games. Cluster-F**k in the end. A nice fumble, lol, and then a score. Just the usual BS. If you insist on playing on "Thursday", go small. Leave the big money for Saturday.
Right.....because NOTHING crazy ever happens on Saturday college football.

1. Megalocks & Scal were on East Carolina heavy. Two of the better or hottest cappers on here.
2. The line- it looked like it was begging for Temple money. 4-3 team laying 3 vs undefeated team.
3. Temple's schedule has been relatively weak. Cincy had over 500 yards on their defense & they've turned the ball over a lot (Zero vs ECU).
4. East Carolina played tough @ Florida, @ BYU, and beat VT...tougher slate of competition.
5. Figured East Carolina would slow down Temple run game (they did).
6. Last year they outgained Temple by 300+ yards & fumbled 5 times in the rain. Maybe a little revenge factor.
7. Temple had Notre Dame on deck, possibly the biggest game in Temple history, potential look-a-head spot. Def will be biggest game in Temple History and maybe Game Day.
8. East Carolina needed the game more for conference implications & to avoid going to 4-4.
9. Home field advantage; thought it would've played a bigger factor.
10. Didn't think Temple would be 7-0, a team who was 2-10 two years ago. What a coaching job.
------------------
Those are the reasons. Didn't work out. I put too much money on it & it was a bad bet. I'm better at NFL. Putting 2200 on a week night, mid-major college game was not very smart. I guess you could consider it "chasing." Should've stuck to my gut & put that 2200 on Seattle instead. It's over. It was a bad bet. We'll move on & hit on Tulsa tonight.

Don't always see eye to eye with you Scal and at times may not agree with what you say or how it's said, but at least you put it out there, win or lose.
As others have pointed it out, bashing after the fact is classless. Grow up and cap your own games AND write up about the pick PRIOR to kick off

Nice encouraging words above. I Appreciate it! Thanks to all who made them. (Especially on this page). You know who you are. Studied the lines and I definitely will have another pick this weekend. Love two spots. May play them both or just one.Not as a catch-up, but because they are real good spots. We will make this one a thing of the past in 48 hours. I won't miss.
Sounds good dude. You gotta sharp mind. Keep em comin

Scal to me is one of the most respected cappers. Thanks for all the hard work and sharing them in this forum. Crazy people will get upset if you lose 1 out of 100 wins, even if those picks are free. Looking forward to see your picks and knowledge this week-end.

Scal...I know others here have said it better but keep doing what you are doing. Your writeups are thorough and outstanding and I enjoy reading them like many others on this site. I, myself had been away from sportsbetting for 3 years and I always used Covers for all of my handicapping info. I realize now I have come back to a site that is different in nature that it was 3 years ago. What I see now are alot of lazy, uninformed people who want to tail others without putting any work into this and then blame the same people when a pick loses. I see it all the time in Boomer's and Badlands threads and it makes me sick. I was on East Carolina last night and it was MY PLAY that lost, not Scal's or anyone elses but mine. Keep up the excellent work - you still have a lot of fans out here!

I love how the people come in to bash AFTER the game. LOL. Worthless punks. You know who you are. Spineless and weak, using the internet to get your nuts out of your vaginas!! LOL.
ECU isn't that great. Knew that going in, but thought they were the right play. It was close, but Temple made LESS bad plays, and won the game fair and square. Loss is a loss, move on. Happened to be on it too (coincidentally) and don't regret it.
Thanks for the input on the game Scal, I agree with most of it, just didn't come to fruition.

To all those after my last response. Nice to see some guys coming out of the posting shadows to comment, and also some old stand-bys.
I do have a personal responsibility to deliver a winner. I'll never get paid to do this and couldn't take pay for offering what is at worst a 50/50 proposition at worst. I do advocate for the free and open sharing of information and this forum is part of that.
So when I wrote my OP, and reread it, I saw a lot of people could tail this play. That is why this loss hurts a lot (and not only for my bankroll).
ECU did not win the game and there is no excuse for that. There will be no excuses for losses anymore. A loss is a loss period. I can only say I couldn't foresee the ECU coaching fiasco. Temple wanted to lose the game and ECU just wouldn't take it. There will be losses like that. But overall, a solid side should prevail far more often than not.

why fix something that isn't broken? Temple +3 was a no-brainer, but what do I know? They had just dominated everyone they played this year with their starters on the bench for entire 2nd half of 3 of those 6 games. Umass being the only exception where they slept-walked to victory. You clearly hadn't seen this Temple team play with your own 2 eyes making this pick. Their D and will to win and refusing to lose makes them a top15 team... IMO of course. ECU 0-14 coming into this game when being held to under 20pts. Temple D allowing 14.7ppg on the year going in. I don't know, just a very bold and confident sounding pick the way you laid it out against a dominant (6-0) team that to this point had given nobody a reason to bet against them when getting points. You convinced alot of people into losing money that night with no real substance. I mean honestly had you seen Temple play this year prior to making the pick or was all based off numbers. Serious question, not trying to talk garbage. Just having a hard time believing you had seen them play and decided to STILL go against them in an underdog roll with such confidence... The ONLY thing in ECU's favor in that game was the fact they had Notre Dame on deck. But their coach won't allow them to come in not focused. Again, I've watched them play all year and that's what I based it off of. They're a DAMN GOOD football team.

THURSDAY NIGHT MIS-MATCH **
Georgia Southern @ Appalachian State-- App St has played 4 of their
1st 6 games on the road. At (5-1) the Mountaineers only loss came @
Clemson. The 5 wins have come by a total of 225-30!! That's an average
of 39ppg and 3 of those 5 wins came on the road by an average of
42.6ppg. How this team isn't in the Top25 is beyond me. But, that keeps
them motivated, and trust me they will be... Ga. Southern has run the
ball in their triple-option offense 336 times out of 406 plays ran. Can
you say one-dimensional? Of course, they lead the country in rushing at
399ypg, because that's ALL THEY DO and they haven't played ANYBODY
besides West Virginia where they lost 44-0. Stop the run, or really just
slow them down, and force them to throw and it can UGLY quick because
when they throw IT IS UGLY!! How UGLY, to the tune of 41.4% completions
1TD and 6 INT's on the year. KEY FACTOR: App St has been VERY STRONG
against the run all year allowing only 2 rushing TD's ALL YEAR and only 8
TD's total defensively. They should have no problem at least slowing
down the Ga Southern run game and simply outscoring them to the point
where they can't keep up making it impossible to come back from behind
with ZERO passing game. Plus, this App St team should be super pumped,
finally getting to play in front of their home crowd after 4 of 6 on the
road this year. PLAY APP ST -6 3*
** THURSDAY NIGHT
LIVE DOG ** Temple @ ECU-- I know I
sound like a broken record week in and week out, but here we go
AGAIN...Temple once again not getting any respect from the odds-makers
or the NCAA in general and I LOVE IT... The Owls did FINALLY make it
into the top25 at #22 this week after having to win 6 in a row in
impressive fashion to get there. I thought they should have been in
after WEEK 3 based off what I had seen from them. The Owls do have Notre
Dame on deck, but I believe they'll be ready to play knowing they have
to prove that they belong in the Top25. Plus, they are coming off a
fairly sluggish win last week by 14pts over UCF... Temple brings a very
stingy defense into this game only allowing 14.7ppg, 203.8ypg passing,
and only 91.3ypg rushing. The Owls average margin of victory this year
is 19ppg and that includes wins by 17 @ Penn St and 8 @ Cincy. ECU lost
their expected starting QB Berkhart right before the start of the season
and back-up QB Kemp has been a game manager at best. KEY FACTOR: I
expect the Pirates offense to struggle a little against what is the BEST
defense and BEST team overall they have seen all year. I mentioned
earlier, Temple's D is only allowing 14.7ppg. Well, guess what ECU's
record is when scoring 20pts or less?? 0-14!!! In the last 14 straight
games when scoring 20 or less ECU is 0-14 and this Temple D is MORE than
capable of holding them under that. Take the (6-0) team still getting
no respect based on pure principle if anything, if my write-up isn't
convincing enough. It would be a bigger play but having ND on deck, and
it being a road Thursday night game, is forcing me to keep it moderate.

Another example tomorrow btw... Is Utah getting 3.5?? On what grounds??? They're 6-0 and rolling and getting 3.5, how could anyone convince someone to go against Utah with SOOOO much confidence like ECU was made out to be the pick against 6-0 Temple... Bet on USC if you want to and their interim coach. But, there's NO WAY you can convince me with a heading, "capping really isn't that hard"... Against an unbeaten... ZERO LOGIC... That's all I was saying. Why fix something if isn't broken and sound soooo sure about it. They hadn't been beaten yet, and avg margin of victory was 19ppg, but "capping really isn't that hard" Hate it for the folks that bought in....

Because I've been handicapping since 2007 and it sure as hell isn't EASY... Requires a tremendous amount of time, effort, research, and actually watching the games to even HAVE A CHANCE at being successful at the end of the 13 week season... 1 or 2 weeks doesn't define anyone, The end of the seasons results do...
