Couple things... if he does go into a coma, he can hear you, so talk to him, comfort him. Try to stay with him if you can, and talk about the good times, remember, he can hear you. It is never too late to trust Jesus, even in a coma, so if you have the nerve and can summon the strength, ask him and encourage him to do just that. These are bold things to do, but do them, it is time. If he does trust Jesus, then encourage him by reading the new testament letters to him, even to his last breath. Pray for him. These are not times to argue or dispute these things, I can only tell you I know for a fact they are true (some other time I would be willing to explain) . Believe, and when you do you it will be confirmed. I prayed with my father this way (and many others), before he passed, and although i spent a lifetime trying to convince him to trust, he finally did, and it was a miracle. There is another life after this. We spend it somewhere, the question is where will he and you. Pray for yourself, pray with him, pray for him, there is no time for anything else. Your heart will be filled if you do this, with joy, and his passing will not be sad, but happy. You will miss him, like I miss my father, but knowing he is with jesus, and being certain of that, will give you a faith and joy that will stay with you the rest of your life. If you love him, do this for him, do it for yourself. I could tell you stories that would make your heart leap, and also you would be overcome with fear, there is light and dark. I will pray for you both. God bless you.
