It was 2nd and 2!  He could have drained the clock down to practically nothing and then kicked the chip shot field goal.

I disagree here. Whats the point of going up 6 points instead of 5?  I thought the 2 pt conversion attempt made no sense at all. It actually saved me from losing Texas -6 2nd half. One of the best pushes I've had in a long time.

You kick the extra point and take the lead by 5 and force the other team to go for two if they score a td. Going up 6 made no sense whatsoever.

Just because you lost on the bet, doesn't mean it was the wrong call.  Being up 5 doesn't mean sh*t with 2 minutes left.  Being up 6, however, does.  Kicking an extra point in a tie game with seconds left against Texas wouldn't be the easiest thing to do.

maybe he was thinking that by going for two and going ahead by 6. if texas scores they have a shot of blocking the extra point. there was no harm in going for two at all, you dont get it you are up by 5 they still need a touch down.

I agree wholeheartedly.  I said the same thing as I was watching the game.  Odds of an extra point miss by Texas are miniscule.  Risk/reward made the PAT kick the obvious decision.

And FWIW, a coach that goes for 2 points before the 4th quarter in the NFL or college should be immediately fired for stupidity.  Otherwise, you should always go for 2.

NO, the 2 HALF defense for OSU was not the 1st Half defense. OSU played well for having alternating QB's, but I TEXAS is the better team, but barely!

Are you seriously out of your mind!?!?!?!? Do you have a clue about football? Yeah a FG wins the game. I think a 2 year old could figue that out. By OSU going for 2 points and they make it....GUESS WHAT? OSU is never out of the game no matter what happens. Texas can score a TD and OSU still has a slim chance by texas missing the extra point.

WOW. Some of the absolute dumbest quotes I have seen in a long time. You ABSOLUTELY go for two here. Any buddy who thinks otherwise should no longer post. Also, one of the dumbest things Tressel did all day came in the third quarter i believe. 3rd and 7 on Texas 10 yard line he takes Pryor OUT of the game. He didnt put him at receiver, he took him OUT of the game. I dont care how good anybody thinks he is or isnt but if there ever is a time for the kid to be in the game, THAT would be the time.

When you have a freshmen QB you score when you can while in the red zone.  Pryor's passes were short all night.  I was just waiting for a Texas DB to cut in front of an OSU receiver and take it the distance.

Why keep blizing on the final drive ? They weren't getting to the QB !! OSU'S coaching staff blew this game. No way in hell you give your team the oppurtunity to score with 2 minutes left ! Run 2 sneaks if you have to, get the 1st down and the game ends on a FG, more than likely Buckeyes win the game. Real piss poor coaching on the highest level last night !

OSU had a 4th and about 1 or 2, on the Texas 33 yard line, 1st Q, I thought they should have gone for the first down. But no, they try another FG, and miss, when the guy made the 1st FG that was really pressing their luck, no way did I think he could make 2 in a row like that. You go for it, and try to punch ion a TD. FG's weren't going to win that game. Tressel is overrated as a coiach and sometimes is really dumb.

the way the OSU offense was performing going for 2 was the wrong call.  that fade call was ridiculous.  OSU was 1 or 2 plays from getting in FG range with 11 seconds left.  what if Texas scored with more time on the clock and didn't get the 2pt conversion?  OSU would have had a chance to win the game with a FG.  what's the greater probability - TX missing an extra point or TX not getting a 2pt conversion leaving OSU with time on the clock to get in FG range.  i'll go with the latter.  i know this is pointless now but the people above who think going for 2 was the clear call are idiots (WinningUnits and Letsgonow).

It's about time you came to your senses. Tressel and the coaching staffs lost this game. They had the momentum in the first half, and blew every chance they had. 4th and short....go for it. Your defense is playing above expectations.

The man was too conservative. He was conservative in the first half, and was even more conservative in the 3Q.  This was one game, where he should've went into a shootout mode.

I'm willing to bet, that Pryor was told to step out of bound at the first down marker after a run, to avoid any potential turnover. There's no way that kid would've ranout of bound that soon. It looked like he was playing on a leash.

The Sweater Vest time is over. He is failing to adjust during gametime, and doing an even more horrible job game planning.

I don't know if Tressel's time should be over, and hell, as long as he wins enough games and still beats Michigan, he'll stay there forever. He did make a few mistakes, and Pryor too, but I think pryor will be far more experienced next year, with a full off-season of practice too.

Coming from someone who was leading the Tressel bandwagon as an alum a couple of years after he was hired, take it from me: He is getting outcoached CONSISTENTLY by top ranked teams. They played with more heart on both sides of the ball last night than any other game this year (MICH included). The coaches blew the game. How the f#$k can one of the top rated defenses in the country run around like a bunch of idiots when dealing with the hurry up? Did the dumbass Def coordinator not prepare them for this? TEX was doing it all year. No excuses for that shit.
Truth is, there's coordinators in the MWC and the WAC that could outcoach Tressel's crew.

completely agree.  i'm an alum as well and his decision making makes me sick.  he was so predictable... boeckman in during pass plays, pryor for running plays.  way to open the playbook like you said you would.  i'm shocked they put up 21 pts.

Last year Brian Westbrook of the Eagles broke a run just like Ohio St, he delibrately took a knee at the one instead of scoring. This has to be thought of in advance. If they center the ball at the 1/2 yard line they can get the clock down to less than 10 seconds an try to punch it in on third.If they don't get in kick the 8 yard FG.
 
The only danger is if the FG gets blocked.They go ahead by 1 and there is no time left
 
I was taught these type of things by my first coach who taught us you have to run the play through your head before the play starts.We wpuld practice this all the time with all different kinds of scenarios

Your striaght up wrong........What is wrong with OT? I'm not talking about any probablity right now. I dont care if Texas chances of missing an is 1 in 200k. It makes no sense at all if your up by 5. Learn the game of football before you open your mouth. Your really embarrsing yourself right now. Enough said
