I have been around for a while, just pretty much been following threads.  This place has turned into Rookie haven with a bunch of morons just talking inexperienced crap looking for a win so they can buy more beer for the dorm room.  For the veterans whose opinion I respect.  Thanks   I picked UL Mon last night, what a painful game to watch..Glorified High school game they call College football. What made this closer than it should have been   was failure for UL to get any offense going in second half without their QB.

Tonight  Tulsa +9  This game opened at Boise -10 and went down to -8.5??  Now back up to 9??  90percent of money is on Boise so I will gladly take my chances....GL

Saying that 90% of the money is on Boise doesn't show much experience.  I'm not trying to knock you, so don't take this the wrong way, but how long are people going to buy into these numbers?  These books, which are private, for-profit businesses, do NOT show how much exposure they have on any given game.  That is all propaganda my man.  Just keep a heads up on that.  They won't show you how much money or what % of the total wagers on a certain team at any given time.  Just like a bank wouldn't show the public how much exposure they have on sunken loans, etc.
 
With all that being said, I like your play on Tulsa.  GL tonight

I've read this same post 300 times this month.
What makes you the veteran? More than anything, what makes you so confident that the ones you are "thanking" are veterans? Is it the fact that they post useful information consistently? If that's the case, do the same for yourself.  

A little tired of the take-me-on-my-word Veterans of gambling.  You're a dime a dozen.

yYO DCC, I WITH YOU ON THE NEW PEOPLE ON THE FORUMS, THEY SHOOT FROM THE HIP WITH OUT ANY INFO TO BACK PIC'S. GUYS BETTING 30 PLUS UNITS ON A GAME. THAT IS MORE THEN MOST PEOPLE'S BANKROLLS. SUGGESTION USE A 5 UNIT OR STAR SYSTEM WITH TOP PLAY 5 UNITS OR STARS, THEN DOWN TO A 1 UNIT PLAY. DON'T USE MONEY JUST STARS. IT MIGHT HELP EVERONE TO GET ON THE SAME  STEP.  G.L.

I am quoting myself as a guru or veteran or whatever u guys want to think I am trying to convey.  I have been on this site for years and I just think it needs to be filled with some decent people.  I can give you a bunch of useless trends and info, but the fact of the matter is who cares what some of these teams did over the last few years?  The thing about college football is the teams are constantly changing.  My record will speak for itself in the coming days.   And your wrong about the books posting their action.  Sportsbook has a section called "betting trends", I follow it to see the early action and most importantly, right up to the game action which tips the hand sometimes as far as line movement, etc....

Every pick I put up here would be a five star play, so no sense putting up units, since every one has their own comfort level of a unit.  I respect the guy that puts 10.00  on a pick or 1000.00 on a pick..a win is a win...

Those are not real numbers, and that is exactly my point.  You are being duped if you think some offshore sportsbook based out of the Caribbean is going to tell you how much action they have on a given play.  Come on man.
 
If you like following these types of numbers, I suggest using the Covers contest percentages.  They are real, and it's a great sample to use because it combines experienced gamblers with people who think they know all about sports and how to bet, along with those who like to place recreational wagers.  It's a good way to gauge the "public" if you will.

I totally agree. While we know covers contests aren't perfect, at least the numbers are honest.

I bet this guy also buys into those articles by covers about who the "sharps" are on.

Then you are on the right track my friend.  Stick to the honest numbers, don't cite any sportsbook's numbers, or even the Logan's numbers on all of the matchup pages.

Thanks JK...Most players today don't even have the grit that he used to play with.  My Yanks are going to have their hands full with LA...Going to be a good series....

Exactly my point...this is why I kept my mouth shut for four years...just trying to make a difference on this site and bring it back to some sort of respectability it once had.  The CBS Sportsline was the greatest site for betting forums, that went bye bye. Please understand I DO NOT consider myself a guru or a Veteran.  Just like making a good pick.

I've been back and forth on this issue for years and I follow the trends on covers and sportsbook for all major sports. The problem I have with the consensus picks is that money isn't necessarily on the line. It's like free poker where people will play any hand. Sportsbook trends show high percentages on bad spreads and public darlings. From what I've seen everyday for years is that it's been consistant with my beliefs. The method dccusa21 is using for this game isn't fool proof but has proven to be a valuable tool

I agree - people's contest picks aren't the same as $$ picks, but when the sample size is 1,000 bets or more, you feel like you are getting some kind of read on what is happening.

agree somewhat to a point, However there are still human beings that work and manage books, and if you know someone who does you can get that info.

who cares.... i make my own decisions on who i pick. we all use trends, doesn't mean that it makes up our minds. I use them as a template just to see facts. I like BOISE cause of waht I know about to from day one of the season and who they played and who TULSA has played etc... I follow the WAC since I'm from Hawaii. I hate Boise for that reason LOL but I love them tonight. I see them winning and covering. If TULSA can put together a few scores it will go OVER for sure. MY record this week is 11-1 but two weeks prior I was a shity 5-14. U can read into numbers all you want, we are just like sports teams. May look good on paper but you never know until it plays out. If you're hott go with it... if you're cold then slow your roll! We are all here to help eachother and give opinions. If someone's on the other side I always like to see why. You never know he may just change mymind with a few facts.
