Agree - except USC isn't in a BOWL game they care about... That is always a problem with such a high profile team, Alabama is great example, as is USC in the past.
If it is not important, they dont care.... Dont know the team itself close enough. Full of Senoirs is bad, lots of underclassman starting would help...

That theory usually only pertains to teams who have their hearts broken late in the season. Alabama was in contention for the national title when they lost, thus giving Utah and Oklahoma a signature win over a team that didn't give a damn. USC is still rebuilding the program, and a win over Nebraska would continue to be a solid stepping stone. I like USC huge in this one. Baylor and TCU would be two teams that I would think fit into your theory a little better. Arizona also. Just my two cents.

that's what you thought after they crushed fresno in last year's bowl game, but this season was a bomb

USC has 14 seniors and 43 freshman or RS freshmen on the team.
Now, with more scholarships, this team has a future.
