I like USC this year. I think they may have some depth issues but this team is extremely talented. Barkley will be a top 3 Heisman candidate IMO. HOWEVER, I think them going undefeated may be a longshot.
@Stanford @Utah Oregon at home @Washington Notre Dame at home... These are all going to be tough games especially Oregon which will be their toughest of the year. Not saying they'll lose these 5 games but I can see this talented USC team losing 2 games this year! Will USC live up to the hype this year?
By the way I think the -37 week one against Hawaii is as chalky as a play can get but they are going to beat the dog shit out of Hawaii. I havent done my research on Hawaii just yet. is Moniz still playing? His point shaving ass.
Anyways whats your guys's thought on USC this year? I think they have a great shot at winning the Pac10. if theres one L I see them taking its to the Ducks.
GL to all this year. i cant wait another 8 weeks tho

USC -37 is the best BIG bet of week 1, in my opinion,
Some like Louisiana state -43 vs no. Texas but I would never bet that. I see that spread being covered only 33% of the time tops...45-3 final and the bet loses!!!
USC -37 should cash 62.5% of the time in this spot... I see USC scoring at least 51 points in this matchup, probably 61 is a more realistic number given the fact that hawaii only has 4 starters back on Defense from last year's team that gave up 30ppg.
on offense they have a new qb, who will be rattled. they rank #119 in the country with only 20 career starts on the offensive line, and only one senior. their left tackle is a redshirt freshman.
similar to hawaii in 2008 when they faced florida as 34 point underdogs, this line wont be big enough!

lucan- I hear you bro GL to you as well. im just trying to get prepared to pound em hard week 1. All opinions are welcome
jdnmoney- Im with you on LSU. 43 is a very high spread. I think they beat em by 40 easily i could definately see a 45-3 score tho. If the line was 39 I would be on it. I could see USC scoring 50-60 points. We'll see.Definately gotta drop at least 1 unit on um week 1. GL this season

trey 1st off not being an asshole but right now its pac-12
2nd i think i have usc going 11-1 but the thing that concerns me is Kiffin he has this way of losing games he shouldn't lose. USC has screwed me the last 3 years i've won 1 usc game in 3 years and that was the utah game where i found out the book gave me the win for the 23-14 final Do you think the pac-12 gave utah that 1st matchup by accidentUSC's job was to kill Utah and show them while you're now one of us you really aren't 1 of us. So really Kiffin couldn't kill a team the right plus all the bleepin 2 pt conversions
I have USC beating Michigan in the rose bowl my self winning the pac-12 BOL trey

USC just 1-5 straight up aganst Stanford and the ducks since 09....although should have better shot this year catching Stanford early with big drop at QB and playing Oregon in LA....that should be a helluva game like the two last year

it's too bad people on this site keep talking about this game... really frustrating, but it just goes to show that most people are only betting $20 or $50 on a game... if they were making a serious bet, they would never talk so much about a game before the line ever comes out... all the talk about this game is going to ensure that we lose about a TD worth of value on this line by the time it is posted...
there needs to be a moratorium placed on all discussions about this game, so that those of us betting significant amounts of money can still have some hope of getting a line that is worth betting on this game... please!

jdn- Pac 12 of course... slipped my mind. good point on Kiffin. He has been known to fuck up some games. Its still early in the year man Im just trying to do my early homework like a responsible student this year. GL this yr
Apocalypse... Yea ummm sorry that I am a regular working 26 year old struggling to make ends meet. The size of my units doesnt have anything to do with my early in the year game assessments. Just because I bet 100 per game doesnt mean I am not a serious better. I wish I could bet 300 a game and spend 1k on futures like some of these ballers on here but Im not one of them. Im here to assess these games not talk about to size of my units

very mature response to what was a completely valid issue, which was expressed in as friendly a manner as possible... you said alot about yourself with this response!
you have no clue about how much anyone is betting, and what does it matter...some bet 100 a game and that is a significant amount.
some bet 10,000 a game and that is a drop in the bucket.
these are all completely irrelevant points... it doesn't matter what is a lot or a little to the people betting... it matters what is a lot or a little to the people taking the bets!
you are a chump for making these comments. you shouldnt read the forums if you dont want to talk about the games, and one other thing...
again, very mature! i do want to talk about the games, but this is the bottom line... you will never see any of the people betting significant amounts of money (from the perspective of the sportsbooks taking those bets) talking about a game they are going to hit hard, two months in advance of that game... so for you to not understand why this can be detrimental is rather shameful...
i guarantee nothing we say on covers.com will effect the opening line, because vegas already knows everything they need to about these teams.
this is an erroneous assumption... if we were talking about discussions made a few days before a line is posted, you would be mostly correct, but when we are talking about discussions 2 months before a line is posted, on arguably the most frequented handicapping forum on the net, then yes... these discussions do make a difference...
watch and see where this line opens... that will prove the point!
i appreciate the discussions, but we have all lost value as a result of the discussions regarding this particular game... and i'm not blaming anyone in particular... there is just a point when people would be wise to put a lid on it...

back atcha, JDN! like i said, not blaming anyone, just expressing some personal frustration... fact is, i agree with you completely about this game, and if the line is right, i will still make it my biggest or one of my biggest week 1 bets... just worried the line won't be where i originally expected!
either way, let's get some money this year! there are plenty of games out there...

in all due respect to you guys, I think you base your perspective on week 1 lsu on past history. this shutout loss to bama is really unprecedented. the loss was taken personally by the players, coaches, university and all of their fans in the state of Louisiana...huey long turned over in his grave that not. i think you guys underestimate the statement that will be made on 1 September by lsu. n texas is a very bad team coached by someone who had a mild stroke in the spring which also lost their leading career rusher. granted, a typical miles coached team plays up or down to their competition. yes, 42-43 points is a lot of chalk, but how many of you actually think N Texas will cross midfield. how many of you think N Texas will have more than 100 yards of total offense? i predict 10-12 3 and outs for mostly negative yardage for N Texas. I also predict LSU will score 2 TD's on either fumble recoveries or interceptions and another 2 TD's on a short field. I think LSU will be up 35 to 0 at half time. They have to get Mettenberger reps at least through the 3rd quarter to get timing down in game time situations prior to the Washington game. Granted, RGIII torched Washington in the bowl, but RGIII torched almost everyone else as well.
If Kiffin wants to run it up against Hawaii and NC, than he probably can. But, I believe those Hawaii players love NC and will play hard for him until the bitter end. Plus, even with their rif, N Chow is still considered to part of the USC family and an integral part of their championships and the development of their QB U reputation. I would rate Hawaii and N Texas about equal.
The only thing that concerns me a bit about the LSU v N Texas game is that it has a 12 noon CST start. If this were anything other than game 1 coming off a miserable 21-0 loss to Bama, I would lay off. If this were Sep 15 against Idaho as a 43+ spread with Auburn on deck, I would say no way. I think LSU makes a loud statement to show their fans and "themselves" that they are back and maybe better than ever.
LSU 56
N Texas 0
USC 48
Hawaii 10
I believe both USC and LSU will cover...I just think that LSU has a higher degree of motivation in this week 1 matchup...
I will appreciate your thoughts…

@Stanford @Utah Oregon at home @Washington Notre Dame at home... These are all going to be tough games especially Oregon which will be their toughest of the year. Not saying they'll lose these 5 games but I can see this talented USC team losing 2 games this year! Will USC live up to the hype this year?
IF USC IS AS GOOD AS THEY SUPPOSE TO BE HTF ARE THESE HARD GAMES? stanford early in season they should win that game for sure, at washington should be easy, vs notre dame should be a win they beat on nd on road last year.
i agree some reason i think utah might give them a game but utah is ranked like 33rd they should beat utah
the hard game is oregon, but they won at oregon last year, i dont see how oregon wins that game this year.HAVE YOU SEEN OREGON SCHEDULE? IT A BIGGER JOKE THAN USC SCHEDULE, IF OREGON BEATS USC IT VERY POSSIBLE OREGON GOES 12-0.
so i think usc will likely go 12-0. cause they play box fuckin schedule, this is not the sec, youd think florida st and usc should go 12-0 with the schedules they have

oregon has never won a football title, and they were in the title game 2 years ago, no fuckin way they make the bcs title game 2 times in 3 years, cause they would have to beat usc 2 times to do that, no fuckin way that is happening. i would bet 500k on that shit that oregon wont make a bcs national title this year, what odds oregon can beat usc 2 times this year 2 percent? they couldnt even beat them in eugene last year as 15 pt chalk
