Bulldozing is a good word.  The receiver had his hands on the defender at the snap and pushed him halfway through the end zone.  In the entire game, was there ever a guy that wide open in the flat?  Because its the last play of the game, are the refs not supposed to call any penalties, even one as blatant as this?

Don't get sick over referees in a football game, especially a game on which you won some cash.  Especially on a call that, at best, could have gone either way.

Aside from this play that only YOU seem to find controversial, what other plays did the refs do a bad job on? Seriously dude?

Robinson WAS WIDE OPEN. you dont get THAT WIDE OPEN ON A TOP NOTCH DEFENSE LIKE FSU HAS....... the kid had the FSU defender in a SUMO/WRESTLING hold..... what are you watching? Seriously?

Gene, I was gaining respect for you but it's clear now:

    You are truly a buffoon.

I HAD THE FSU ML. I don't care about losing $50/$100 here or there on a play that blatantly bad. Just because I had a bet on the other side, doesn't prevent me from creating a thread about it.

All the people bitching would you be bitching if it were reversed and FSU did that and got called? I don't think you would. I always ask myself that on these calls before going off. Look at it objectively; I don't know how you don't see offensive PI there. And again there were 2 there where the guys didn't even pretend to run routes.
*I lost on FSU spread won on over and am a Denver Broncos fan don't really have a college team but follow UT and BYU.

I'm bitching and I had the FSU ML

you are aware that a receiver can not lock up on a defender while the quarterback has the ball, and while the ball is in the air, right? The call was absolutely legit,

interesting that the original poster resorted to name-calling, surely that shows your intelligence. just coz ppl disagree with you doesn't mean they're wrong

your credibility has gone out the window AFAIC, and as a side note, if they didn't call that penalty it would have been a huge black eye for the NCAA, it was blatant offensive pass interference

anyway, notre dame will be in the playoffs if they win out, they're strength of schedule alone puts them in contention, if they can handle the rest of the schedule they will be in the playoffs, do not expect the miss squads to win out

as another side note, I had Notre Dame to cover the spreads and the over so I chopped on the bet, anyone lamenting a last second loss in any game is either betting more than they should or a newb

    Oh my god.

Did they call the penalty on Leinart, the ridiculously blantant push in the back from Bush in 2006?

Was that a huge black eye?

    NO.

Now THAT was a REAL penalty that should have been called. Not this BS which happens every third play.

Life went on with the NCAA after the Leinart blown call.

And who is lamenting? I HAD FSU. Look above.

That was a legitimate call....   Everybody runs that type play... This time the receiver just got over zealous and clearly committed offensive PI... If refs don't make that call then you might as well not have refs.

When I took an officiating class they said you only should call penalties if it directly affects the play or is dangerous.

If a player on the left holds but the run went to the right, you could call a penalty, but don't.

There is a penalty on every play, if you look for it.  Nobody wants 30 penalties in a game.

That penalty on ND was awful.  The receiver was wide open.  Number 3 jumped to his right and number 8 was too far away to stop the pass.

(USC should have been called for the Bush Push)

    No. No clue!

I'm only saying the defending national champ might play for it now that they beat a #5 team that was undefeated. Wow, what an outrageous statement. Who could say such a thing.

Bro stick to capping 4 basketball games a year.....

This isn't a common line of scrimmage play.... it's in the the god damn red zone on the goal line.... that will get called 9 out of 10 times..... the one time it won't get called is if the refs miss it.....

    That was blatantly obvious......

This play that you are questioning was not a rub or scrape, it wasn't a pick where receivers cross, where one gets in the way or bumps the defender freeing up the other receiver.. This was a receiver engaged fully, and blocking the defender across the endzone.... Although everyone hates to see a games outcome determined by a penalty. this call was not even remotely questionable...

I challenge you both to watch 1000 replays in the red zone from any and all games and you will find the exact same thing is common and very frequently overlooked, that is, if the coverage was blown (it was)
The refs will not reward a defender who had zero chance of getting to the receiver for getting 'picked'.

    And then, the penalty itself??

    15 yards!!!

The game was OVER After that play. Yeah ND is them going to score 19 yards out in one play.

Honestly, I wouldn't have that much beef with the penalty if it negated the play and was a 5 yarder...but 15 yards?

Game over. Just a disgusting ending to an electrifying game.

and i won, i took under 60 but that call was horrendous, ND was wide open it didn't even directly affect the play. I will never forget Jameis' bloated, water logged, shthead grinned face after that call. it's almost like he was the poster boy for Vegas itself.

Anquan Bolden got called for the same exact call in yesterday's game blocking the defender into the endzone.

    Same call, same scenario.

What's weird is probably the same exact play also that happened on the right side of the field.
