what do you predict for Virginia this season >???
I am on the Under 4.5 Wins ... London has some good coaches around who could steal his job soon IMNHO ... the schedule is Brutal .....
BYU 's defense is the real deal ...
I think Virginia will be lousy. Looking at 4-8 most likely. They've stopped pretending London can coach and brought in a babysitter to run the show while Mike concentrates on recruiting and organizing community events. It's funny that London is great at organizing every drive (coat, bloood, recylcing) except those of the touchdown variety. The administration has also stopped pretending that AD Craig Little-effort (-brain, -thought) can do anything other than look nice in a suit (a lesson that Penn and Rutgers both learned the hard way decades ago) and brought in a babysitter, football-only AD. Heck, if UVa hires any more white guys to keep eyes on their black guys, it may constitute a hate crime.
On the field, the Hoos will have better talent throughout the roster, but fewer game-ready play-makers. O'Brien will help a lot. Making sucky teams suck somewhat less than their suckiness would predict is definately his wheelhouse. He'll also know when to call time out - a nuance Mr. London failed to grasp so spectacularly against PolyTech last season, that a few members of the of the Cavalier Administration acually stopped congratulating themselves for hiring a black coach, put down their mineral waters, and decided that they needed to take some action, desipte the fact that Mr. London had led the Hoos to the ACC"s highest percentage of recyclable materials used it its concession stands - two years running!
Virginia (which, by the way, is hard to get into) cleverly staved off a looming QB controversy by getting rid of both of the QBs who were, well, looming. You know the saying, "it's better to have no QB's and have to try and find a right tackle who ran the single wing for 17 plays in 7th grade, than to have two QB's battling it out." Or something like that. The fact that there was a QB "controversy" at all speaks volumes as to how things work in Planet Charlottesville these days. There was one QB who could play and one who couldn't. The one who could had the misfortune of being a white guy who didn't have a phone number that started with 757. He's now taken a step up in class, as he'll be running the show at the University of Richmond this fall. As for the lad who couldn't play, I haven't the faintest idea where he landed.
UVa has been selling the notion of a new "two-year plan" to the hundreds of season ticket-holders it has remaining, so I think damn near anything north of 3-9 should keep London safe for another year. That's not because he would have earned it (at least not on the field), but UVa can't afford to blow the recruiting class it has shaping up for 2014. Boy, just can't wait for the season to start.
