thoughts from week 1
how bad is the talent level at Texas, all I heard this offseason was that Charlie left them full of great players, that team is awful and that is being nice, absolutely no defense, wait until Maryland hits the big boys in the Big10 and then you'll realize how bad Texas was defensively
plenty of guys here better than me at picking games and I don't point fingers but I was stunned at how many florida bets I saw this past week????? we can win or lose any bet but what has Florida done in at least 5 years that looks like an offense? that program is in shambles and have the wrong leader in place, I said that when they made the hire, he's out of his element and it's sad to watch such a great program be so bad on that side of the ball, I do like their defense but they can only carry a game so long before they get worn down, Florida needs to fire their coach, end of story
Clemson is the best team in the country, again, just get used to it people, they are loaded and can match up with anyone, this is the best team I saw all weekend regardless of opponent
Alabama is good in certain areas but their offense will take a huge step back this year without Lane, I know the fans will say it's because they were against an FSU defense that is good but I know what I'm looking at when I watch a game, that offense will not win a national title this year, no way
Auburn looked very solid defensively but that team has several flaws which I called before the season started, they still should have won by 50 over GSouthern regardless, they are using Stidham wrong and he's running too much, he won't make it through the season without a big injury, remember I said it, he is injury proned and those junk formations with a terrible pass blocking offensive line spells doom on the plains, offensive play calling is a real issue with this team and they will waste their best QB, they should be spreading teams out and throwing quick passes until the line gets better, Stidham threw one ball into tight coverage and had some dimes dropped (one was a wide open td), once the play calling gets him hurt they are done, really wish he would have gone somewhere with a real coaching staff, that offense wasn't tailored for him at all, they will get completely dismantled this weekend in Death Valley, Stidham may not finish the game after what I saw the Geo Sou defensive line doing
Ohio St needs to improve their d backs and offensive line but I see tons of potential in that team, love that defensive line and the new RB out of Texas, JTB hasn't looked great to me in two years, lost his quickness and he's an average passer, plenty of time for them to make improvements, they will run right over OU this weekend though, Sooners are soft and Baker isn't leading them to victory in the Shoe, don't see it, prove me wrong Sooners
USC is vastly overrated simply because their defense isn't very good, Darnold has to play perfect and outscore teams when they play someone legit, I don't know how good Stanford is but gut feel says they give Trojans all they can handle, WMich marched up and down the field, no way that is the 4th best team in the country and I'm a huge USC fan & pac12 fan, they better improve quickly on defense or they'll lose at least 2 games
very impressed with Purdue considering it was their first game with Brohm at the helm, he is who Baylor should have hired to continue offense in an offense driven conference, instead they bring in Rhule who's a defensive guy, I'm just a dummy from the internet and I know more than those hiring at these schools, how is that possible??????????????? Rhule could have worked at Purdue, he just got beat by Liberty in his debut, wow
the Lane project will be a huge failure in the sense he won't get a big job once he leaves FAU, not that he can't improve FAU just by him being there because he already has but because he will prove unfit to lead a program, he's out getting hammered in Boca 4 nights a week, he's not a leader, he should have stayed at Bama and swallowed his pride, Bama would be the best team or right there with Clemson if Lane were there, he's a great o-coord, he's not a head coach
same story with Sumlin, teams start fast and can't finish, not sure what it is, just know it keeps happening, I do think he can be a good coach in the right program, he would fit well at UCLA once they fire Mora, Aggie will be looking to get rid of him and a fresh start out west would be ideal for Sumlin
NC State looked like the better team but South Carolina found a way to get it done, that was a great football game with back and forth, very entertaining
Cal winning in that poor time slot at UNC is huge, I bet them knowing that their defense would make huge strides with the new staff, still don't think they will be very good this year if I'm being honest but that win is a great way to start the season
Louisville looks to be slightly overrated, Jackson looks great but they have too many turnovers, penalties and a mediocre offensive line, Lamar Jackson is still the best player in the country despite nobody having him on a heisman watch, he is that team
Michigan look solid despite poor QB play, they are just a well coached team and have good young talent, one of the best Dcoords in the country, they simply dominated Florida on the line of scrimmage, not sure they can beat Ohio St just yet but they are closing in, Harbaugh is really good at what he does
Mich St could be improved, I've always loved their coach and would be shocked if they were terrible 2 years in the row despite all projections that have them being terrible, I look for them to get better each week
Okie Light is solid but not sure they have enough defense to beat the big boys from other conferences, do like their QB and his deep ball accuracy though, that has a way of keeping a defense honest, thought they got too much hype in the preseason but they do look explosive
Oregon St is really really bad, not much else to say
wasn't impressed with Minnesota either, that style of offense with all running will not work when they play a real defensive line like Ohio St but hopefully PJ can get them going, I like his energy on the sideline, something about him makes me want to cheer for his team
Penn St is legit and seem to be a very worthy top 10 team, they may be the best in the Big10 if Ohio St doesn't get better on the back end of that defense (the young bucs should improve there)
hate to see FSu lose their QB, they were a legit playoff contender, really thought Jimbo should have called more quick passes and up tempo to take pressure off his offensive line, terrible gameplan, not impressed at all
Washington needs a more explosive offense to be a real threat in the playoff picture but I am picking them to win the Pac12, they have a better defense than USC and have a better coach
very interested to see the Georgia/Notre Dame game, I actually like the backup QB for Georgia better than the starter for whatever reason, this should be a very good game
