Can I get your reasoning on Illinois? Their defense has been good giving up just 5 first downs last week and holding down Kent State the week prior but those are not good offensive teams this year and UNC looked pretty dominant against S Carolina in defeat. This offense poses different problems. Also, Illinois threw more than 50 times last week despite being in control and despite the other team showing no ability to move the ball. Team chemistry seems at a high right now for sure and they are playing decent football. What is the reasoning for Illinois.

Hey Wahoos. Best of luck this year, as always.

Interested in Iowa St. as well. Toledo looks legit, but could be letdown spot after Arkansas win. Line looks to be going our way. Good luck this week, wahoo.

Many are all over Boston College Friday night, and Friday night home dogs are smart money most times but I smell a rat. You can throw out the Howard result as there are High School teams who could beat them, and 268 total yards against Maine isn't exactly impressive. Huge jump in class for BC. They won't be able to throw a lick against the Seminoles leaving them completely one dimensional against an FSU team that already is playing much smarter and a lot less sloppy than last years squad, one turnover and only 12 penalties in 2 games thus far. South Florida is no Alabama but they still sit 80 spots higher in the sagarin rankings than Maine. If BC can run the ball well, they will hang around all night but if they get down 2 scores it might be lights out. I don't think this this years FSU team will be giving games away with penalties and turnovers, Golson has yet to throw a pick....and Dalvin Cook is a legitimate beast and a threat to score from anywhere on the field. Tread carefully BC backers.

I was considering Iowa State also, but looked a little deeper and Toledo QB Phillip Ely was at Bama and looked pretty poised and they pulled that upset without arguably their best player, RB Kareem Hunt who was suspended but will be back this week. Toledo D line is good vs the run which showed vs Arky but secondary is suspect.
I watched Iowa St and thought QB Richardson and WR looked pretty good though. Might still play them but man are they bad vs the run on D.

Like most of them.

the first two weeks I posted day before or day of the game and tried to get up to date lines to help the forum or those who chose to follow me, well that just isn't my thing, this week I went back to my way of doing things and that is grabbing early opening lines that fit my criteria, looks like I chose Illinois too early as the line is 10 now, can't read the movements on all of them
my reasoning on that game is simple
- they are getting over a TD
- they seem to have rallied around the interim coach and I like that
- they are trending upward
- UNC has gotten statiscally worse under Fedora every year and they are a poorly coached undisciplined team
they do have more talent and better players than Illinois and are capable of beating them by 17-20 but will they? who knows but I felt like I was getting value at the time of the bet, I don't love it but it was good enough to be a bet

Which is your top 3 picks boss? Thanks and good luck my friend!!
hmm, great question
at the lines I got I would say
bc and usc are my two favorites
I think Florida St is average with the exception of Cook (he is probably the best RB in the NCAA), they usually don't dominate at BC and I like the double digit home dog under the lights
USC is almost back to being USC and feel these two programs are going in opp directions, USC is getting better and Stanford is trending downward for several years in a row now, they played a tight game last year but this usc team is prime to drop the hammer this weekend, I hope they do it, I think if they play a clean turnover free game offensively then they will win by 17+
I'm leaning to OLE MISS heavily as well but wouldn't consider fading Bama at Bama a favorite of mine so can't list that as a top play, I'm most likely going to bet it though

Toledo is a better team than Iowa St, I took the dog on the letdown factor, just things I've seen over the years in college football after getting a huge upset win, if the Rockets come out and smash them then I'll take it on the chin and move forward

Cook is amazing, maybe the most talented back in the country
I'm not betting this game based on anything BC has done, its based on watching FSU play South Florida and knowing they usually don't dominate @ BC
besides Cook they don't scare me with that offense, I think BC can beat them straight up to be honest and that's without seeing BC play a single down
I simply don't think FSU is that good, just my opinion

EASY WAHOO! Noles are my team LOL! But I have learned through the years to bet with your head and not your heart. BC is the play this weekend unfortunately. I, like you, have yet to see BC play a down but have also watched FSU and they are a one dimensional team. They can not pass block and have young receivers who just aren't there yet. Prime time on the road and 1st acc game of the season spells disaster for a fairly young team in FSU.
I hope I am wrong because this is one I would glady take on the chin but I am a realist and do not see it happening.
Best of luck as always Wahoo! I have a good feeling this is the week you get things rolling. Love that you went back to your bread and butter and posted early. Can't worry about pleasing others. As Al Davis used to say JUST WIN BABY!

B.C. completed 5 passes. FSU only 4 penalties for 26 yards...2-0 turnover edge...Scoop and score made up for the missed fg, secured the cover. Eagles made them earn it...I think this is the blueprint for FSU this season...conservative on offense compared to the last 2 years, fewer mistakes but they will not be covering big numbers against teams with an offensive pulse.
