I know I will be getting reply’s on how dumb I am but what the hell. I believe the only dumb question is the 1 never asked. I keep reading about going on 1,2,&3 unit plays and I just wanted to know what a unit meant. And also I was thinking about playing on the home team for ncaa FB Friday night. Anyway thanks

Basically what midnight said, but it doesnt have to be 10 percent, most people use 5 percent or less of their bankroll as a unit.
I would recommend if you're just starting out, to just always bet one unit. Ive been doing this 20 years and still will find that varying my units messes me up from time to time (ie: betting 2 or 3 on what i thought was the strong play, and it loses while the 1 unit picks win, meaning you end up down or even despite having a winning record) this year it hasnt happened, my stronger bets have won but it can backfire.
I would more recommend if you want to increase units, do it during a time of year that you find you do well in - for me that is the playoffs in whatever sport. So I keep it conservative til then.
