Who is next year's TCU?

Ok, this season is over. Who is the surprise team(s) next year.   TCU was 5-7 last year....Would like to hear some thoughts for next season....

WISCO comes to mind .. we'll see .. 

Texas....all 'potential'  and 'talent'.

Was just thinking about this....

TCU had a really close game with SMU last year. I recall that being the game 34 - 42 SMU win. This year they won the same game 42 - 34. 

It was this win in September that me think, this team is legit.

So I want to look at teams that had some close games. 

Also new head coaches can really make a difference. 

And we all saw what USC did with the transfer portal.

So looking at these three factors may be a clue. 

FSU, they didn't have a losing record but bring back the offensive studs and defense is loaded with transfer portal doods.

Oklahoma

LSU and Washington come to mind. 

What do you mean by next years TCU exactly? Like a long shot to win it all? 

Does it really matter? They went up against 5-6 backup QBs, then in the CFP the opponent pulled the pin on a grenade and held onto it for 60 mins to see what happens… kahhhboooom.

Then reality set in and they lost by 60 points in the final game. which we will probably never see again in our lives. 

Don’t look for the “next TCU” to win it all - maybe a make the playoff bet would be a great look if it’s offered.

I mean a team that comes out of nowhere and is in the running or makes the playoffs, like Tulane, SMU, etc   Every year there is a team or two that is not ranked and has a fantastic year....

In the previous post I meant TCU, not SMU.....and in the running for the title or making the playoffs....

Still have a signing day, another transfer window, spring ball, ? Coaching changes, etc. 

Too hard to consider any bets at this point imo. Maybe Colorado 200/1 considering Prime could bring in 20 more five star transfers/recruits prior to the start of the season lol. Hear he’s trying to get Tom Brady to transfer over from the Bucs 

Thats the one team I could see making noise as far as the roster goes prior to September. No real idea what their depth chart looks like overall right now, might still suck but the PAC isn’t great imo and a sleeper could come out of there

Really? They would have to get a slam dunk in the portal. Really lack skill players at this point. Fickle should get'em going again though.

Saw FanDuel had Colorado and only Colorado listed for regular season over/under wins last week. It was set at 4.5, can't remember how it was juiced. Not there now.

 Colorado was the first team on FD over under win total. At 2.5. And the under is the minus money lol.

 Lmao for real? Ok I withdraw my comment on them It must just seem like they’re getting millions of transfers and commits but in reality the skeleton of the roster is still terrible.

 I dunno man doubt it - plus Beavs will be ranked (much unlike Frogs).... but still a definite "wtf' moment if they came close. But still worth a small season wins wager / P12 title / play-off lottery type bet.

 Consider 2022 - IF they had a pretty good QB >> they go 12-1 or 13-0 without not much imagination ..........

  * lost to USC at home by 3 - held them to 350 yds (-4 TO) 

  * lost @ Wash by 3 - (87 yds passing)

  * lost @ Utah big but outgained Utes by 50+ (-4 TO)

In each game QB play was BRUTAL - an incredible edge by opponent

  >> a total of 43-76 / 487 yds / 0 TD - 8 INT     

A negative regression off a fantastic 10-3 is possible sure - and likely expected by bettors and oddsmakers - BUT Beavs have improved linearly in most every category since HC Smith's first year in 2018

   $  SU - 2-10 > 5-7 > 2-5 > 7-6 > 10-3

       scoring O - 31 > 29 > 31 > 32

                  D - 46 > 33 > 26 > 20

Yds/play - yards/pt same ......one of nation's worst in 2018, finished #20 or so SP+ in 2023

   * That DJ Ukelele should be great in this system (IMO)  

   * Schedule is favorable - road - Ducks - Zona - Cal - Col - Wazzu

                                        home - Wash - Utah - UCLA - Tree - SDSU

   * Last 2 years at home Beavs are 12-0 SU / 11-1 ATS      

Wolfe's FSU, or a team with better athletes more likely probably ... like Wisky?.  But we won't see a TCU for a long while - hell that would be like TTech making it to the final game next year ........

I agree with you on Wiscy and can’t wait for that RSW Total to be released….with CJ gone, opens up Wiscy, Penn St as potential Big 10 champs.  

Frogs gonna miss Q Jackson…he should make a great Pro. 

I had a Frogs 500 to 1 Championship Future I placed on October 26th…I doubt those odds will ever be available that late on a team that made it so far.  Really impressive by TCU imo….one helluva run. 

Not as big an unknown but ND with Hartman may be interesting.
