It's funny how sports wagering is one of the few forms of gambling that people who don't know how to do it still insist on doing it. Sports wagering and, to a certain degree, blackjack. People who aren't poker players don't in spite of this play poker every week. I roll in the race track and there's nothing but lifers. I've had old dudes recognize me from when I was basically a toddler, 30 years ago. "How's your grandma? How's your mom?" "Mom's fine, grandma's dead. I see you are alive a kicking and still playing the ponies." I don't say that last part. The point is you don't see people who have never played roulette even stop by that wheel. And they should. It's a ridiculous game that takes no skill and is perfect for non-gamblers. Yet everyone likes to place a bet. It's fine when it's a few bucks for fun but if you're not serious about capping why risk the loot? The rush? I guess I started gambling too young because i've never gotten a rush from it. It's always been business.

Yes they cap my FCS bets at $100 and move the line on my side 7 points to the team not bet and they know a ton.
What ingenious line making!!! Gosh they had the correct line all along (shaded a mere TD after $500 worth of bets!)
It’s human nature.
People are by nature, lazy and embrace shortcuts.
Reading a write-up (never mind writing one) takes mental energy, so much so that today’s ilk can barely read beyond a Facebook post without losing interest.
So the know-nothings embrace know-nothing’s (and granted some guys who know something but choose not to share it) and the readers embrace the writers. It’s a very simple formula.
I’ll stick with the latter.
Mr. 23 NBA wins in a row can hit 2,300. I’ll still politely observe and stick with the guy who tells me why he picked a side.

BTW - In a couple months it will be getting colder out. Just so you know, it snows in Wyoming. Keep that in mind
Me and that guy are kinda bros now so I really don't want to touch this one. I did crack a joke some months back in a review for the movie Wind River.
Disclaimer: To anyone who has ever seen the movie "Wind River", that is nothing like the climate in Laramie. Laramie has a high desert climate, similar to Reno. It does get cold but it doesn't necessarily dump snow all of the time...... The more you know.

Perfectly said by Motowner. Some do it right here but unfortunately most don't.
I've been reading Covers for well over a decade now and I've seen all the tricks in the trade by certain guys. And many of those guys are still posting picks today and some people think that because some of these posters have tags of "Veteran", "MVP", "Legend" or whatever that they're trustworthy and quality handicappers. Some are but most aren't and that's just a fact.
A handicapper's joined date or how well they're known by the forum has no relevance of how good they are at handicapping. None. In fact the best handicappers on this forum have only joined in the last year or two - guys with "Prospect" or "Rookie" tags. It's a new breed now, so out with the old.
Bottom line: Only guys worth following here are those with a weekly thread who show their wins/losses on each game at the week's end and then tally up their record. Just like how Motowner described it. Anyone who isn't doing that is clearly trying to hide something because it ain't hard to keep your record folks.
There's really only a handful or so of guys who do that here so choose wisely. And none of them do write-ups. Their winning records and picks which can easily be traced through are plenty enough to make you a ton of money if you're just looking to follow. Good Luck!
Yep. These very simple set of rules should be required for those who post plays in the forum:
1. Create ONLY ONE weekly thread with all weekly picks in it.
2. Grade those picks for the week (Win-Loss-Push) in that same thread once all games are final.
3. Calculate your new YTD record in that same post where you graded your picks.
4. Carry over your new YTD record into your next weekly thread.
Now how hard is that to do people???
SIMPLE BASICS. The guys who post plays but do not do these steps either lack basic intelligence or are hiding something. And it doesn't matter how long they've been posting here. Same rules apply to everyone equally.
Also - NO ONE should get mad at another poster if they ask for another poster's record. It's a 100% legitimate question and it doesn't matter how long the guy who's posting plays has been around. Nor does it matter if the guy who's asking for a record is brand new. Show your records if you're posting plays - that should be a GIVEN. This is a gambling forum afterall. It doesn't make someone a troll if they're asking for someone else's record. Grow up and stop going insane and acting emotionally triggered if someone asks for a record.

Most folks in society use gut feel to make decisions. The forum is a reflection of most people. I'm a WHY guy and every post I explain my rationale - some like the why some want the bottom line. At the end of the day all life is - are choices and consequences.

Who specifically are you referring to about "posted YTD records without any evidence"?
The best honest cappers here grade their plays at the end of each week - win or lose - for everyone to see. They only create 1 thread for the week with their YTD and weekly records in full view. Their thread titles are typically just "Week 4 CFB" and some include their YTD records in their thread title which is ideal. No attention seeking titles or drama. Just weekly picks, which they then grade at the end of the week with an updated YTD record. So full transparency.
Now, there certainly are a lot of random posters and some longtime posters here as well here who post picks, but don't do the above so this is probably who you are referring to. But, it would be much better for you to address those posters in their individual threads and ask them about their lack of transparency instead of making a blanket statement here. Because, again, there are some real cappers here who do things the right way.
As for writeups, the best cappers here never do writeups for many reasons. Not only do they not have the time, but they don't live on the forum and are simply posting to share their plays to help others and for their own accountability. They're not trying to sell you anything and they don't care or even want you to "tail" them necessarily.
Finally, all posting history can be found by clicking on a poster's name. You can then sort by the forum in which they've posted in (CFB, NFL, NBA, etc). So if you're wondering specifically about a poster's YTD record in a specific sport for example, you can easily verify if the record they're claiming is true or not.
