This is the first Thursday Game in Commonwealth Stadium history. Yes, it is lowly UK but Auburn is not playing near as expected this year. The place will be packed and has been a sellout for weeks and the weather will be perfect as well in the low 60s. Auburn is 0-5 ATS this year and has been made the 2 point favorite in this spot. This game is not about the history of UK's past but should be about the present. The home dog on these nights is known to present a positive ROI and there is no reason to think this night will be any different. UK has an improved defense that has stepped up when it has needed to but has been awful at times. It limited Florida to 14 points in UK's only disappointing loss of the season.
Yes I am a homer and will be there but I expect these cats to pull through here because of the intangibles if they can protect Towles and give him some time to find his open receivers. Expecting a somewhat low scoring game with both teams trying to run the ball to set up the pass.

1. Both teams are at the bottom of the SEC defensive stats in sacks and tackles for a loss. IMO this will help Towles moreso than whoever QB's for Auburn. Ky's passing attack can be good but, so far this season, has been inconsistent esp. when facing a quality defensive front. The reason is our OL is pretty unathletic and can get whipped. Our OC adjusted after the FL game by adding a couple blockers in the backfield and rolling Towles out more. If our OL can hold their own though, and not have to revert to these adjustments any longer, look for more 4 and 5 receiver sets and Ky might be throwing the ball up and down the field. Believe it or not we do have some playmakers at the WR position. But our OL has been so bad at times this year, teams have been able to get to Towles and get him rattled nullifying any play-making ability we had outside. If he has time though he can be pretty darn productive.
2. Stoops employs the "bend but does not break" defensive approach which certainly has something to do with our low numbers of sacks and TFL. But check out the advantage Ky has over Auburn in red zone defense. It's fairly significant and I think it will be a difference maker. Look also for Ky to sellout stopping the run as Auburn has not demonstrated that they have a decent passing game. Ky, OTOH, has a good passing game to go along with running backs Boom Williams and JoJo Kemp.
3. I also know Ky has spent the last two weeks preparing defensively for the read-option attack they're sure to see from Auburn and this contributed to the let-down against Eastern Ky.
4. I've gone back and forth in this matchup quite a bit and a) yes, I am Ky homer so factor that in, b) if we do not turn the ball over and c) if Towles doesn't crap himself then Kentucky should win this game.
Anyway, thanks for listening and Good luck in what you decide.
Cheers!

Some thoughts I have about this game are.....

Auburn has NOT COVERED in their last 10 games!!! Now they are on the road vs. a pretty good KY. team and are FAVORED! I like KY and the UNDER. If Williams plays I think KY will control the game and win convincingly, if he doesn't they will still win. - THE MYTH

I live in the Bluegrass; therefore, to get anything done personally or professionally you must pull for the Cats. Stoops now has SEC caliber athletes on his roster and can effectively compete in the meat grinder better known as the BEST football conference in the country. However, my money has to be on “them” boys from Central Alabama for the following two (2) reasons which are as follows:
1. I am of the opinion the Cats are NOT going to get the QB play required to win against a squad that was considered a top 10 team in the country early on… 2. Kentucky is NOT mentally ready to “Hog Tie” this Auburn squad that has historically OWNED the Cats i.e. Auburn wins this game off of GP (General Principal).
I like Auburn to cover up to a touchdown in this spot; needless to say, I invested a little heavier due to the recently discounted line that is all the way down to 1.5 now.
With that being said, put me down for Auburn minus the minuscule chalk (1.5) for a Dime please. Thanks!

Since we have the two teams that rank (in the SEC) last and 2nd to last in TFL and sacks, I think both QB's are going to feel more comfortable than usual and, as a result, this game will be higher-scoring than folks anticipate. But I certainly can be wrong. Good luck on your play!

ky wins if: towles has diligently applied himself this week.
ky loses this week if towles has spent the week primping his hair and telling all the girls how much he is going to make in the nfl. how do you know? just before kickoff if towles is flipping his hair bet on auburn. make an exception: if boom plays uky wins anyway in spite of towles' hair.

i live in lexington. there are some great plays nearby. bengals 5-0 ATS this year. the best bet of the year is on eastern ky vs. se missouri state saturday. line opened -5,56. now -12,60. still a good bet. maybe 51-17. eky is in richmond, about 25 miles from lexington.
