Matting6, what is your motive here? You are screaming at people, repeatedly, on this subject. You list yourself as a student, a student, do you really think anyone is going to take a kid with limited experience seriously when it comes to their money? Give your opinion, that is what this board is for, but move on. You sound like that Billy Mays pitchman guy who screams on TV to sell you something. Move along son. If you have something significant to add, come back. This game is over a week away and you alread have about FIFTEEN posts on this subject! Get over yourself man, you are just one person, with one opinion. We got it.
Don't lose your lunch money on this game kid.
My point was to try to get some ppl some of the money I've been getting, but I guess ur right... No animosity here, good post.
I for one appreciate your posts matting6. If you're right someone on here kinda owes you an apology. If not.....then that's just life. I didn't know this thread had a post limit.

well at least i know why this line isn't at florida -6.5. Its cause of people like matt and devin. haha
FL48 - OU31
matt and devin - this is a VERY easy pick. Instead of arguing, look into it further minus the emotions. Check out the LSU vs. GT score for starters. Florida's competition is far superior to OU's.

On the teams that each have played this season that went to bowl games or going
Average score Gaters 44 to 13, and Sooners 52 to 27.
In their last 3 games Gaters 44 to 14,and Sooners 62 to 27
In their games with most points made and given up :
Gaters posted 63 with Kentucky ,and gave up 31 to Ole Miss.
Sooners posted 66 with A&M ,and gave up 45 to Texas.
So with Murray out going with Gaters -3 1/2
Nice analysis, and the disparity gets even worse if you consider how quickly Tebow has been pulled this year, while Bradford has not seen near the bench time.
Many of these OU backers are the same ones that were all over the OU - TX thread preaching how dominant OU would be.

everyones entittled to their opinion. but let's handicap the game....logically. OU may very lose. but to bring LSU v GT into this equation...is kinda silly. think about it....most sports experts were touting the Big 12 as the best conf in the land..not the SEC. also, OU has played good non conf teams like Cinn and TCU. so it's not like OU is playing pansies and Florida is battletested. If you really believe that you might want to review OU's season again. most people that know football on a high level know that this isn't an easy pick by any means. in fact, half the teams OU played this year were either in the top 25 or in a BCS bowl like Cinncy. if you look at Florida's schedule they play about the same # of top 25 competition that OU played. I'm getting the feeling that you may have only seen OU play maybe once or twice. Definately not half the season. Both teams are very evenly matched if anything.

I'll be in Las Vegas for this game and I can't wait.
Right now, I'm leaning Ok. But, seriously - you can cap this game till your blue in the face and still not feel good about a side. For every angle that favors the sooners, there is another that points Florida's way.
Since I think it's an even match up, I'll take the points and buy the hook and hope for (at the very least) a tight game.

first i'll apologize for calling you out in that last post. youre right. its just an opinon and i certainly dont think less of anyone for having one that differs from mine.
Now, they're not evenly matched. Who wants to win this game more than anyone in the world? Easy answer! Tim Tebow! If someone messes up, he'll put a boot in their ***. If someone plays so-so, he'll put a boot in their ***. Tim Tebow ULTIMATE motivator here! On the other hand, do you think anyone gives a crap if the olive skinned pretty boy gets loud??
I mentioned lsu/gt cause SEC teams pound each other all year and thus get labeled "decent" by years end. georgia, vanderbilt, and lsu have set the record straight. Let's continue this conference evaluation after 4-loss ole miss beats Texas Tech tomorrow.

Even though Texas is better than both of the teams, I lean toward OU to finally win a bowl game here...I think their offense will put up enough points to win. Good Luck.

Florida covers easily and I absolutely hate Florida. Big 12 has shown their true colors in the bowl games thus far and I expect it to continue. I keep hearing about Big 12 offenses putting up astounding numbers yes but they were against middle of the road (at best and I think that is being very generous) defenses all year. These numbers will not carry over against SEC teams and Ok and TT fans will say their teams didn't show up. I will go a step further and say that if Texas, OK or USC (not Big 12) were in the SEC they would have 2-3 losses or more every year and be riddled with injuries.
Just my opinion but I did pick Ole Miss to PUNISH Texas Tech at the Cotton Bowl 350 miles from the Red Raiders home. Ok is not even the best team in the Big 12 much less the country.
Freaking Florida wins it again

About 2 months ago I was telling my friends that whatever
you do this bowl season, be sure to bet oklahoma
and florida –
well, it aint so easy now. My early lean
was on Oklahoma,
but have now had second thoughts after watching ole miss take care of tech. First, lets look at some ats numbers. The sooners have gone over in 11 of 12 this
year, while the gators have gone over in 8 of 12.both teams are 10-2 ats this year, while the
sooners have obviously not been in the underdog role.Florida
has been 10-2 ats as a favorite.
Florida
is ranked 17th in the nation in total yards on offense while putting
up 45ppg (ranked 3rd).They
are ranked 62nd in passing and 11th in rushing. On defense (the key) they are ranked 8th
in total yards and give up just 13ppg.Ranked
16th vs the pass and 15th vs the run.
Now the Sooners are ranked 3rd in the nation in
total yards, but you must factor the easier defenses they get to play compared
to florida. They
rank 3rd in passing and 18th in rushing – score 54ppg - Best
in the nation. Now, the deal breaker for
me.On defense the sooners are ranked 63rd
overall and 99th vs the pass/16th vs the run. They give up 25ppg, ranked 59th in
the nation.
Now, is Oklahoma’s
defense a little underrated based on the fact that they play in the high
scoring Big 12?Perhaps – but to me, Florida’s defense is
tons better, with speed all over the field.Safety Ahmad Black has 6 picks for 2TD’s this year, and he may be the
x-factor in this game.While I expect
both offenses to put up points, I think Florida
makes that key play or 2 on defense to separate themselves. The way Ole Miss took care of Tech really
helped continue to solidify my opinion on this game in a large way.The total will be pending a look at the
weather that day – but these offenses should hit the high.It is a championship game, so I’m not going
large on the total – but most certainly will on the Gators.Game is in Florida,
and perhaps a slight home field advantage for Florida – if not the fans in the seats, the
fact that the game is played in their state. I normally don’t buy points, but
will get this line to 2.5 for myself just in case.Florida
has gotten 65% of the public bets and the line has moved up from 1.5 to
3.5.Sharp money has come in on the
under with 60% of the public on the over, yet the total has dropped from 73 to
70.I will not follow the RLM here, and
instead will look at it as value based on my feel for the teams ability to
score from anywhere on the field. Florida

You need to look at one key factor here. FLA defense vs OU offense. OU has not played a D like this all year and will be woken up when they do. This game will come down to D and I will take FLA defense over OU´s any given day. Be smart. Yes its true OU puts up an avg of 55 points per game, but they also give up an average of 21 pts. OU will NOT score 55 against a goof UF D and by the same token you have to beleive FLA will score over the 21 pts OU have given up all year.
FLA 56
OU 28
The over is a lock and while UF is the smarter bet
I suspect that score/prediction might be close. The Big 12 has been exposed as an overrated conference that made itself look great by beating up on each other with the sexiest of offenses. However, their game plans don't work so well out of conference.
Texas Tech- Lost badly to Ole Miss
Oklahoma State- Lost and got physically outmatched by Oregon
Texas- Yet to be determined (IMO have the best chance to win since they are playing a Big 12 team)
Oklahoma- Will end up appearing like TT and OSU.
Florida defense has the greatest edge in this game. What other angle do we have, the OU corner calling out Tim Tebow? Give me a break. He is on the verge of winning 2 college BCS championships. In terms of college football, it is tough to beat his resume.
Bradford and OU had a big letdown versus West Virginia last year. Expect this to be much the same in 2009.
FLORIDA BIG.
KEEP YOUR MIND ON THE BIG PICTURE.
Watch Tim Tebow after that Ole Miss loss. This team is not fucking around. The upsets are already in for this bowl season.

I was really surprised when I first saw this line...I thought Oklahoma would be the favorite, possibly by as much as a TD...There offense is so sick, I just don't think Florida will be able to keep up with them...Florida's D will need to have the game of their life if they hope to win this one. I know its not all about the offense, and typically D wins games, BUT this is not your typical offense. I also really love that the public favors the Gators as well.

Granted, there are a TON of angles to manufacture in for this game, but heres a tid bit of info.
Florida played Top 25 Teams 4 times this year: #6 Georgia #25 South Carolina #20 Florida State #1 Alabama Florida averaged 45.3 points against these teams.
Oklahoma played Top 25 Teams #5 Texas #16 Kansas #2 Texas Tech #12 Oklahoma State #20 Mizzou Oklahoma averaged 53.6 points against these teams
I would look at the defenses here, but really, Florida didnt play anybody with that great of offenses. Oklahoma did. IMO, Oklahoma has the edge in big games because they played a lot tougher teams in the big games. The SEC was down this year. The BIG 12 was and IS on the rise. I'm a huge SEC fan, but I can tell the difference between a weak conference and a tough conference, and the BIG 12 is a much better conference THIS YEAR. Oklahoma has the edge, I think they win, and they win comfortably.
You can criticize all you want or play Devil's advocate, I dont care. I am just putting my opinion about the game, not the opinion about how I think Im right and You're wrong.
GL Sir.
Thanks 4 the post

Many of you are out of your minds on this thread. Quit handicapping games if you are not going to analyze them.
The OU defense has no chance in this game against the Florida offense. First of all they will be on their heels with the Florida option and speed and second of all they will get POUNDED by the UF OL and Tebow.
Texas was better than OU this year because Texas wore them down in the 4th qtr and run it down their throats and Texas also took away Bradford's passing lanes and pressure him in the 2nd half. Florida's speed on defense will create alot smaller windows for Bradford to throw to and he will have 2-3 turnovers in this one.
Throw in the Florida special teams vs. the PATHETIC OU special teams and it is a ROUTE.
Florida 59
OU 24
I am 21-10 ATS in bowl games so far this season.
