This should be an interesting game here tonight.   Pitt started out the season great on Defense.  However, the lat 2 games they have looked awful.  Navy is a team with the tripple option that can really spread the field.   Navy has a very beatable secondary and I look for Pitt to get several scores in the air tonight.  Both teams have given up an average of over 30 pts in their last 3 games.

Unless the weather moves in - I like this to sail over.

That's the target number Pittsburgh coach Dave Wannstedt is giving freshman quarterback Pat Bostick for Wednesday night's game against Navy. To Wannstedt, anything short of 28 points probably won't be enough to outscore Navy's productive triple-option offense that loves to control the ball and frustrate opponents.

I don't get it, everyone here likes navy but the consensus is in Pitt's favor by a pretty big margin. 
 
The more I think about it the more I like the over as well as Navy.  with Pitt "opening up" the offense, there should be a few TD passes mixed in with terrible frosh decisions that will put Navy in great positions to score.  I keep hearing that Navy's secondary is bad, if you guys haven't seen Pitts passing game, then you haven't seen bad.  And since Pitt has already acknowledged that they will pass more this game, they are also saying that they are taking the ball out of the hands of their best player, HB Shady McCoy, who is the only thing special about my panthers.  Take the points, Pitt may not win another game, and that unfortunately is very very possible with the schedule they have coming up.

Regarding the Over/Under... I called that line being 53.5, based totally on the stats conditioned on Pitt winning and Navy losing. When I changed it around to Pitt losing and Navy winning.. it changed to 52.5. Both of the calculations had Navy within the 4.5 spread. My mind wants to say "Under" though since Navy is playing away, and Pitt only averages 20 pts/ game.
 
So, if you go with the over/ under... it'll probabaly be a close call - but I think the Under has a slight advantage. The best bet here has to be Navy +4.5 though.

BigDaddyhpd, I was expecting you to come in with Navy at the half.  I can tell you are being disciplined here in this spot... I may lay off as well, though my initial lean is on Navy.

FYI my pick of the week is Illinois -3.5 at Iowa.  That line is waaaaay too low.

i'll sticking with navy here, and although i'll be watching this one a few rows back of the goalline i also sit right next to the section with cheerleader families... you dont know annoying until you see them, only clapping when their ugly little girl does a flip in the air or something and not a care in the world about the game itself... sorry to rant and rave, and djorange i hope you dont know any of them
 
back to the game, like i said i'll take navy +4.5 here, it seems like this whole thread is doing the same but wagerline is 60/40 and sportsinsights is 50/50 on pitt... navy will play ball control offense, and although their D is bad they are actually playing much better than the beginning of the season... pitt struggles offensively and their D will get worn down late in the game from that option/spread offense
 
first really cold night tonight here in pittsburgh, at game time should be around 50 only to go lower to about 45, also slight chance of rain... cold + rain = under for you total backers (i dont do totals)

I have watched Pitt a couple times this year sorry to say because their almost un-watchable. My Connecticut team spanked them thats not saying much for Pitt as you will see in coming weeks when Connecticut gets in tough part of schedule and gets blown out every game. Navy has nice offense as they run the option well defense not very good undersized and slow. Will have to take the points here and hope Pitt turns it over a few.

unlike you bigdaddy...i am not disciplined!!!!   although i believe if i lived on a tropical island...i could find a few better things to do than watch 2 pathetic teams see who can punt more!!!
 
but...because i live in new england...and really could care less about watching leaves change colors...i will throw something down on this....here's to many turnovers equaling lots of points!!!  OVER!!!  good luck all!!!

no worries, i know all the cheerleaders are dogs, they have been for years, wierd too b/c there are plenty of hot chicks in oakland.
BTW I went to the skins game this weekend, JC looked great, got everyone involved and how about Randle El's coming out party (7 rec. 100 yards in 1 half!!!), i benched Randy Moss to get him in my fantasy lineup b/c i was going to the game.  Who would have thought that was a wise move!!  Can't wait to watch us beat Favre in Lambeau, I will definately be taking the points in that one.

Don't you think the UVa-UConn line is way too low? I love UVa here. Pitt looked terrible at UVa 2 weeks ago but under the lights in C'ville is a tough spot for OOC foes. No play for me.

On paper that's not a bad bet lefty...

- Over is 6-2 in NAVY last 8 non-conference games.
- Over is 9-3 in PITT last 12 home games.

53.5 seems a little high for my tastes though.  Also it might rain tonight:  Cloudy with a few showers. Low near 45F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30%.

Over seems a little high considering how much navy rushes. The clock sure can disappear quickly, esp. if navy gets the lead

i am switching my not so hot pick of NAVY to now lowly PITTS -3.5 - 4 points...reasons? i don't know..i just 'feel' it with a freshman quaterback and the promise of having to score 28 points... i say PITTS + OVER

Navy hasn't been held to under 100 yards rushing anytime within the last 5 years, and probably a long time prior to that (records don't go back that far), so don't look for that to be a key to the game unless there's a monsoon or Brett Favre is at QB tonight.  Turnovers are gonna have to be the key for Pitt to win this one, and I think they do pull this one out.

Like Pitt and the under.  Pitt at home.... i think they are the better team and i am thinking their defense will be up to the task of stopping the Navy run game.  Plus the run game will also kill the clock, so I'd take the under here.

I was all set to play Navy until the colonel's stat.  Ouch. 

Still staying on Navy, you don't win much with an 18 year old 3rd string quarterback.

Also going under.  It will be very frustrating to watch this game and have a bet on the over.  Pitts offense has been very bad and Navy is going to run, run, run.
