F me...This spread insane...Vegas is challenging Boise by setting the bar this eye because they know that there focus will be to beat it...I believe if NMST scores once, BSU won't cover...
This could be the easiest play on the board or the most insane...

honestly boise won't impress anyone no matter what happens in this
game...let alone enough to affect their fate as far as bowls go
for me it comes down to whether nmsu can actually score a little as the game gets ugly and also whether they can get a few first downs here and there to limit the amount of possessions...

There really is not anything more Boise St can do to impress the pollsters. As long as Texas beats Nebraska they are almost assurred of a BCS Bowl with a win Saturday.
AND............it's SENIOR DAY in Boise. Problem is Boise has only 1 starting senior on the team that is not injured and only 2-3 backup players that are seniors which means if Boise is up by 3-4 scores, Chris Petersen will empty the bench and let all his back up players in. HOWEVER, unlike most games when Boise's 2nd or 3rd team enters, just to have the back up QB hand the ball off in the 4th quarter to burn clock, Coach Petersen has had a habit of letting his back ups try to score at will in past SENIOR DAY games since these guys typically don't get a chance to touch the ball, yet they have sacrificed themselves for the team. Perfect game to REWARD the back ups with serious playing time against an outmatched opponent.
Boise also lost their #1 WR (Pettis) to injury last week and he won't be back till at least their bowl game. But it really shouldn't matter. La Tech, Fresno St, Ohio St, Hawaii, & Idaho's defense have all held NMSU to 7 points or less. Boise's D is better than everyone of those school's D other than Ohio St, yet their offense is more prolific than all those teams.
Although I've NEVER taken a team to win by 47.5 points, this might be just the week. NMSU is just that bad and Boise will not let up the entire 4th qtr if their back ups are playing. I also don't think NMSU has a chance at a backdoor cover, like Nevada, La Tech or Tulsa pulled off this season since they simply don't score.

I think Boise is one of the best plays on the board as well.
Look at the total... it's set at 58, the spread is 47.5.. Oddsmakers are saying NMSU is gonna score 10 points? NO WAY! No way does NMSU score in this one.. maybe aFG at best... but that's it. I agree with you boister, Boise rolls... something like 58-3.

does O/U 58 and spread of 47.5 not mean that NMSU is supposed to score 5 not 10?

Its just fundamentally wrong for 2 teams to be matched up like this....I remember back in the Colt Brennan/June Jones days @ UH when we would play cupcakes (U of No. Co, Charleston So etc) Colt wouild play only the first half, back up qb starts the 2nd half and all starters are out by beg of 4th. I don't know how Peterson does it at Boise, but thats alot of chalk. All of that said, UH smoked the crap out of Norther Colorado (I was there) 63-maybe 3
When you think about how many quarters and halves Colt missed due to blowouts, it makes his stats look all that much better...

@ Boiseter, Dude you know your team; during the Hawaii game this year Moore played the whole game and Kaiserman scored a TD late in the game (he ran so hard, I was actually rooting for him to score). I don't expect any Pete Carroll/ USC hijinks but, I think the backups EXPECT to score.

Mush, the Hawaii game was not typical. In that game, Boise's back up QB entered the game in the 2nd quarter with a package of plays. Problem was he got a concussuion on the 1st play. Since Boise didn't want to burn their freshman redshirt of their 3rd QB, Moore played the whole game.
In Boise, they are already talking about their defensive star, Kyle Wilson playing receiver for part of the game and the back ups entering the game to score at will. Trust me, they will not be trying to burn clock in this game.
Since 2005, Boise has won their past SENIOR DAY GAMES by an average of 42 points. Last year they beat Fresno St 61-10. All those opponents were better than NMSU.

I really think Boise St has a cut off at 56...and then backups might, indeed score...... I see it as 56-3. basically, your gambling that NMst wont score a TD, because there is no question that Boise will get the 47.5 points. Ohio St...45 POINTS,(I remember that game!) . It was fresh in my mind when I pulled the trigger on Boise St.

But you don't know about stuff like what BOISETER is talking about. He could be right, they get up 28, 35 - zip then in come the 3rd string....isn't there any others games today that have a better chance?
At best maybe a 3 team teas it with ???? knock 10 pts off if you need to bet it that bad!!!
