Wait until these two lineup on the field. You will notice that Auburn will match Oregon's speed easily. The difference will be the size and power of Auburn.
To make matters worse, Oregon's offense sputtered down the stretch against Cal and Oregon St on the road. And yes this is a road game.
Ducks a different team on the road over the last few years; see schedule.
The "mighty" Ducks were prohibitive favorites against Ohio State last year on the road...
The difference between Ohio State and Auburn is speed. . .
Auburn wins comfortably as SEC dominance continues.
lol, NO, it is not a road game. Neutral site does not equal road game... sorry.

Prior to the SEC championship, I figured Oregon would be a slight favorite in this match-up. After Auburn's shellacking of South Carolina I'm not surprised Auburn is laying -3.
For some reason I like Oregon +3...
May just spectate.

I was hoping Auburn would just barely edge out SC so I can take Auburn ML and get +xyz. Doesn't matter too much, Auburn will most likely win by a TD or more.

been betting against Auburn all year.. obviously, that didn't work out so well for me.. might as well do it in this game as well.. like the Ducks here, hoping to catch it at 3.5 though..

In OSU's defense, he does bring up a compelling point. Do you consider a neutral site a true road game? It's hard for me to call it a true road game considering that one of the major factors of "crowd dominance" (home crowd) is not part of the equation. In addition, the team you are playing on a neutral site is equally as foreign to the field as you are. By definition, doesn't one team have to have a true home advantage for it to be considered a road game for the other?

Did someone mention that the PAC-10 should be recognized for actually playing good football?
Its 2010, not 2005, or 2006, or even 2009 for that matter. The only teams performing are Oregon and Stanford. What happened to the respectable programs of Cal, UCLA, Oregon State, and Arizona State? Washington is doing a good job with both teams sucking it up. Arizona is as overrated of a team as ever who was gifted a cupcake opener of a schedule with Toledo, The Citadel and gimmes such as Washington State. The years for that argument are over, or at least in recess because this was definitely not their year with the exception of Oregon, and If USC championships can't give respect to the Pac-10, then Oregon certainly won't.
That being said, a lot of people are underestimating Oregon. If there is any team that can keep up with Auburn, it is Oregon. On the other hand, people act as if Auburn is just going to simulate as another "Pac-10 Powerhouse" for Oregon to run over.
There is a reason why the SEC is known as the greatest conference in college football. This year is no exception. Auburn, Alabama, and Arkansas could all give Oregon a run for their money. Its the reason why the SEC has as many bowl eligible teams as the Pac 10 does teams: Because the SEC is simply better.
Here's a list of stats I've compiled for this game to prove my point for Auburn.
Teams Held Under 20 Pts: Oregon-6: UCLA, Washington, NM State(All of which aren't even in the top 90 in the FBS in PPG), Portland State (I-AA = Irrelevant), Tennessee(When they put up 5 sub 20pt games in their first 7 games), and Cal (72nd)
Auburn-4: UL-M(100th), and then South Carolina (36th), LSU, and Miss St. (51st and 57th)
50+ Point Games Oregon-6: New Mexico State (120th in DPPG), Stanford (11th*), UCLA(86th), Portland State (Irrelevant), Washington (93rd), USC (63rd)
Auburn-6: South Carolina (48th), UGA(Scored 49, but 46th), Arkansas(47th), Ark State & ULM are irrelevant, and Mississippi(108th)
*It is easy to rank in the top 15 in defense if the final 6 games in your schedule include 4 teams outside of the top 70 in PPG (All Pac 10 teams), and an overrated Arizona squad.
That being said, its easy to see that Auburn shows a little more consistency with providing big numbers against quality teams. This is not saying Oregon can't do it, but they beat on cupcakes. Stanford is no exception. They are just the 2 best in a down conference. Both are good, but Oregon is a little different.
Now comparing stats from Sept 25-current (Week 4 +)
Auburn-45.9PPG 25.4PA Oregon-44.8PPG 23.1PA
September 25th marked a changing period for both of these teams:
For Oregon, it marked the time they started to play their conference instead of the cupcakes they lined up before(Portland State, NM. State, Tennessee..sorry Tennessee...next year).
For Auburn, it marked the turn they made into turning into a championship caliber team, with the remarkable comeback against South Carolina.
By Including the prior games, Oregon's stats become severely inflated with them averaging 49.3 pts and giving up only 18.4. Auburn did not seem to catch on until after barely getting by the Gamecocks. They average 42.7 and give up 24.5 PPG including that time. After only including the turning points and on, the numbers close up to the point where you can't argue on numbers alone.

Last 5 Games Oregon= 41.2 PPG and 22 given up (2 games played against teams who were ranked at the time and are now NOT ranked)
Auburn= 49.2 PPG and 26 given up (2 games played against teams who were ranked at the time and are now STILL ranked)
My take: *Auburn puts on big games against better teams *Auburn
has more capability of shutting down a better offense(Shutouts against
no names and good games against offensively inept teams like UCLA,
Washington, and Washington State do not scream championship)
*Statistically,
Auburn and Oregon are roughly even as far as I'm concerned, and the
fact that the SEC is miles ahead of the PAC 10 means round to Auburn.
*Statistically, Auburn is riding on much more momentum based off of their past 5 games of play
*Realistically,
Auburn is riding on much more momentum because of the SEC Championship
Stomping and Cam's Heisman. I do not care that Heisman Trophy Winners do
not do well in championship games. If there is any stat that is
useless, it is the "What the previous guy did," stat. Cam is not a Jason
White. If you do not think Cam is a special kind of Heisman winner,
then you need a reality check. No one runs the SEC like he did.
All in
All: Auburn by 3 in a landslide. Not saying that Oregon can't do it, but
Auburn is more prepared, has done equal or greater damage to better
teams, and are riding all the momentum. This is easily Auburn's game to
lose. In addition, I want to take the over, but I'm shying away.

So Auburn didn't beat Alabama, the Crimson Tide just gave up. In the biggest game of the year. On its home field. Where they had won 19 straight. With a senior national championship-winning quarterback who was playing his last game in Bryant-Denny Stadium. Oh, and a 24-point lead.
Yea, Alabama just gave up. It had nothing to do with a head's up play on defense where a defensive lineman ran 35 yards down the field to punch the ball out of the hands of the previous year's Heisman Trophy winner and though the end zone. It had nothing to do with another defensive lineman making a sack at the 8-yardline, forcing a fumble and being aware enough to jump on the ball even though there was an offensive lineman standing right over it for 3 seconds.
Alabama gave up. Despite opportunity after opportunity given to them, they gave up. Despite the refs giving the Tide at least two spectacular spots on fourth down to keep drives alive, they gave up. Despite a gift pass interference call in the end zone that was negated by a illegal procedure call on the same play, they gave up. Despite the fact that Alabama could wipe the big, fat grin off of each and every Auburn fan's face with a win, they gave up.
That's an interesting way to look at that game.
As for Auburn-Oregon -- I only hope that we will witness a similar great game in the BCS title game where we can later say "Team X gave up" about the loser.

We go through this exercise every year for the last 5 years when a team from one of the next level conferences plays the top SEC team. Everyone always has some reason to give the other team (Ohio State twice, Texas and Oklahoma) a chance to win this game. It won't happen....take the points and Auburn and enjoy your Monday night football watching this game.
Oregon has not faced a defense and a QB that are as big, fast, and talented as Auburn, while Auburn has been facing players near the same size and talent of their own all year long...
Flashback of when VinceYoung gave USC fits, BUT CAM NEWTON IS BIGGER, FASTER AND CAN THROw WITH PRECISION. He is literally built like a NFL Linebacker with the agility of Vick, and throwing better or same as Mcnabb (while on the run).

After Stanford dominates Va Tech, Oregon will take their team speed doing the same in another fashion to Auburn. Look for Oregon to take over in the second half. Reason being, depth and speed will Roadkill a tired and one line up Auburn Defense. Probably the best bet of the year. AU does not have close of enough depth or speed to survive the onslaught.
