Last time Stanford was bowl bound was back in 2001. They were favs vs Ga Tech and lost SU. I could see that happening again here in the Orange Bowl vs a tough Beamer squad.

don't think you can compare the best stanford team ever with their best qb ever to the 2001 team. this game did scare me a little bit at first glance, but even if va tech finds a way to rattle luck, stanford has a pretty good d. giong with stanford -3

Stanford -3

Stanford has played at a high level all season.  The Cardinal have obliterated some solid competition, and were able to stay competitive for much of their game in Autzen.  Stanford is the last team I would want to play this bowl season.  Even a resurgent Virginia Tech team will have its hands full with this dynamic Stanford squad.  Cardinal take this one 34-20.

D.Evans and R.Williams both filed their Pro paperwork for the pre-Draft eval' to see where they might end up slotted. That tells me that they will wanna run wild.

However, the Stanford oLine is a real problem. And the Stanford 3-4 defense is pretty physical itself. Coach Schembechler may be gone; yet he is still here.

Stanford should win this game, and cover the 3.  ACC is very weak this year, Stanford has been consistent with more quality wins.  Luck will make a strong case for his draft position.  I have a lot of respect for Beamer but this is not one of his better products.

Stanford scores more and gives up less, played a tougher schedule and frankly didn't lose to James Madison this year.

O snap he went to the james madison. Stanford wins this game big 16+ and all will see who should have won the heisman. Stanford is solid all way round. And as for the special team play that will go on after all those kickoffs from TD'S.

losing to jmu has nothing to do with this game. That was like 10 years ago. Now, I do like Stanford and agree this isn't one of Beamer's best teams, but what worries me is that VA Tech usually comes up big and down the stretch they have come up big (or what I should say have found a way to win) when pushed:

down at NC st. and should have lost
Ga tech played them to standstill allowing a KO ret. for TD
Miami was tied going into the 3rd and then fell asleep
and when Fla. st. started closing the gap Tech scored more

The teams above are not in Stanford's league though Ga. Tech should have been better but I'm illustrating a pattern that the Hokies aren't going to roll over in their present form which brings another problem- a month off is a long time and does a lot mess up ur mojo.

Yeah since losing to JMU vtech has gone 10-1 (?) ATS... so I wouldn't really factor that in here...

Should be a great game. 

Can somebody enlighten me on a single ranked team Stanford has beaten this year?

Oh wait they haven't.  Though their 2 pt win vs. an unranked Trojans squad was impressive.

I have to disagree with you on this. The Pac 10 was not a tough conference this season, which leads to me to think Oregon is simply outmatch in their game. Fortunately for Stanford, the ACC was very week this season too. This should be a good game, but the Cards have not faced a tough schedule. I do think the win here and cover. Like you said, their offense is so dynamic. Lucks passing ability keeps defenses focused on him, which opens up their run game. Va Tech on the other hand has Tyrod Taylor. This is his last college game, expect a big performance. I think Stanford wins here though 24-20 or 27-20 somewhere along those lines.

man i tell you at first glance i loved va tech mainly for the fact  that they control the line of scrimmage by way of running the footbal with 3 diffrent horsesand ill tell ya i dont think that stanford has seen a rushing attack this physical all year,   but now im starting to see harbaugh and luck going apeshit here, luck could be nfl bound and i rbelieve they want to avenge last years 4pt loss from sooners in there only other bowl game together ,this could be a last haraah for luck an the cardnial here, im torn you got tyrod taylor , tough game

Stanford just plain smarter with much better qb.  Not to mention a coach that the 49ers are interested in not to mention a few others.
