NEW FORMAT SUCKS

"please wait 10 minutes before starting a new thread"    ?????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????????????

is this new?     It is one minute in the old forum, just tired posting for the first time in new forum and this is what I get?

WITH ALL OF THESE ISSUES WITH THE NEW FORUM, I JUST DON'T SEE HOW IT'S SMART TO GET RID OF THE OLD FORMAT. DON'T LECTURE ME ABOUT THE COST. COVERS OBVIOUSLY HAS DECIDED TO GO WITH A CHEAPER, INFERIOR PRODUCT. YOU WILL LOSE MORE PEOPLE THAN YOU THINK IF YOU THINK THIS IS NOT A BIG DEAL TO USERS. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF IT IS USER FRIENDLY (WHICH IT IS NOT) IF THERE ARE LESS AND LESS USERS TO USE IT.

THIS IS THE WORST IDEA SINCE NEW COKE.

Appreciate your feedback. We get about twice as many users on the new forum than we do the old forum according to our analytics data for the past 2 weeks but regardless, all we can offer is our best efforts to try and match the experience for our veterans on the new forum. Would love to hear if you have any specific feedback about the new forum that might improve your experience.

I'm sorry you are still having issues with the font color. As i mentioned before, i can schedule a remote assist to see if we can figure it out on your laptop but i wont be much help if you're experiencing this on your phone.

Well it was the first thing they had done as I joined in 2007 but did lurk for a couple years I believe before joining like most do,it had to be about 4 years after joining for that one,so around 2011 I would guess,besides our own page going they did start changing a few other things,but as far as I remember 0nly thing members were upset over was the home page but they were gone never to be seen again.

They did add back in the threads as the only thing we had left was our name,and some account stuff but they did add a couple things but it was changed once more to now with just the threads you post in which was not that long ago,maybe a bit over a year.I wish you could get a screen shot of someones own page to see how awesome they were and how the members used them but with no notice of the change coming do not think anyone took one.

I like the new format, i switched over the same week it came out because i figured id get used to it before the permanent switch...i have nothing negative to say about it...glitches and growing pains happen with everything when change is involved.

Thank you for getting back to me, i did a little digging and i believe you are referring to spaces.covers.com 

unfortunately, this product has long been retired and we don't have any active discussions to bring it back. It was retired due to the growth of social media platforms and a decline in engagement and traffic for spaces.covers.com 

I know this is probably not the answer you were looking but hope it helped to shed some light on the matter. I apologize on behalf of Covers if we didnt do a job at the time in regards to communicating the change with you and all the other users.

Covers Sam you are correct it was called cover spaces,I think when talking to friends on here we would refer to it as check my page for the answer or whatever info you were passing around,I had my bookmark sent to go to that space when I logged on,in mins you could find out what the people you wanted to see posts had posted your had not,unlike now where it is hard to find posts from anyone,esp.if they have a long thread where they posted in it 8 times say,well that thread is all you will see because if you have a post in it you keep getting updated thread.Now I will say it is not as bad as it was as the post seem smaller and I seem to have many more on the site that comes up when I click on my coves name.

Now there is only one more thing,what did you guys do with the link to get back to the old format,say it ain't so Sam but is it really gone forever?I quit this job,O WAIT I do not work here,nevermind,NOBODY CARES. That is my favorite line from a movie called A Bronx Tale,Sonny uses the line alot in the movie,NOBODY CARES! 

So feedback is appreciated? I doubt you can do anything to improve this outlook with just some minor twitches...

The main problem with this new format is that it's really HARD on the eyes, everything is so overblown, this is what I hate the most about this format, as opposed to the old format, which was so well put together, it looked so good on the page, everything came together smoothly, aesthetically is was perfect. There is no comparison between the formats, it's like night and day, this new one is absolutely atrocious, that's why many users are complaining about it, myself included, not to mention the other problems users have complained about.

Again, I dunno what you could do, but make it tidier, the font is too big, shorten the box of the user, also shorten the text box, both of the are too wide, this is what makes it hard on the eyes, also this intense orange doesn't help...

i submitted something similar in a different thread on the help forum with a few detailed points for the mobile version. while sam was nice enough to provide a detailed response and even get back to me, it ain't changing. here's what i got back. maybe this will help any uncertainty or save the CT some time from repeating themselves:

I would imagine you are browsing the forum on your mobile device. The reason you can see more threads and posts on mobile on the old forum is because the forum layout is not responsive so all it does is loading the desktop view on mobile. We are bound by accessibility and mobile design guidelines imposed by Google to make sure the font is not smaller than a certain size, there is enough spacing between rows, clickable items are not too close to each other, users should not require to zoom in and out to be able to read and interact with the page and many more requirements and all this applies to devices with different sizes as well. 

We have removed a lot of whitespaces (as much as the guidelines allow) so that we can fit more content on the page and unfortunately there isn't much more we can do here. The above is not an excuse, I am trying my best to explain why some of these decisions have been made. 

So basically that means they can't do much about it, because this new format has built it constraints... in that case our feedback is useless, especially since the 2 formats were run in parallel for so many months, users were complaining about the new format even from the beginning, and after the backlash they allowed us to have the option of using the old format, but they still didn't change anything about the new format.

Unless I'm reading wrong the response you got ODB, any attempt of feedback is rather futile, as long as they don't have any realistic options of changing anything, which is a shame, because they've ruined a great thing imo, the white alone makes it so tiring to look at and from thay last paragraph, this is the best they can do about it?! Pity...

Your feedback is not useless, it is greatly appreciated and we are using it to make the necessary changes to the new forum. We have added some shading to help reduce the amount of white space on the screen. Is there anything else with the layout you are having difficulty with?

I didn't mean to be dismissive with my post, it's just that this new format makes the experience really frustrating and again, hard on the eyes, if you looks through the disgruntled posts around the forum this is the main objection.

Imo, the page layout is too big, fe now when I'm quoting your post the text box is as wide as the page layout with all that white, all that remains is some gray on both edges, but the paragraphs from a posted message don't go to the edge of the box, that white space that remains is bothering on the eyes, same goes for the space after the username until the box where the message appears. These 2 things make the forum seem large, overblown and the white exacerbates the whole page. If you could change the shade of white and make the username box and the text box smaller, it would make the experience of reading the forum so tiring, this is the main difference between this new version and the old one, the old one was more brought together, easier to navigate and to read.
