Tight End or Tight End/Wide Receiver

Question

I see that some leagues are dropping the tight end position and are going with a tight end/wide receiver position. What are your thoughts on this? I feel that with a more pass happy league these days this gives you more flexibility when setting your lineup. The tight end position can be great if you get one of the couple top guys but, can be a detriment to your team if you just have one of the average tight ends. I am trying to decide how I want to go when I set up my league and would love to hear your thoughts...Thanks!!

What you see in the evolution of the NFL is two tight end formations. Most notably and successfully executed by the New England Patriots. Things have took a turn for the worse there as one is injury prone and the other an alleged serial killer.

But take a look and you will see a lot of teams use this formation. So now there are more tight ends then ever, especially those that serve more as pass catchers.

I do not like a league that would be TE/WR. I prefer the more traditional TE restriction. I don't have any valid points or arguments, its just that "if it ain't broke don't fix it."

Thanks for the response Biz!! I tend to lean to your way of thinking also. I do have one more question though. One of the things I really like about Fantasy is working the waiver wire to improve your team throughout the year. One of the things I would like to change about my league is limiting the amount of running backs on your roster to just 4. My thinking is that if you allow 5 RB's on the roster in a 12 team league, you eat up 60 RB's. Since there are 32 teams in the NFL and each team has a first and second string RB...that equates to 64 serviceable RB's. So, pretty much all of the good RB's are taken and you are left with only third string RB's on the waiver wire to look for some help for your team...I feel that sucks. If you limit the RB's to 4 on each roster then only 48 RB's are taken and you can still find some decent RB help for you team left on the waiver wire.

Any thoughts on this? Thanks for any help!!
