Trade #1 overall for #19 and #22 picks?

Question

Last night we had our draft lottery for one of the leagues I am in. Its a 10man, half point PPR, all else pretty standard besides a small bonus for a 40+ yard TD.

So my name was drawn first and the way we do it is you get to pick where you want your draft slot. Immediately I just took the top spot. I offered a handshake agreement to the guy picking #2, he has 3 days to decide, but in return I want his 2nd and 3rd round pick. Therefore, I will have 4 consecutive picks beginning with the 19th overall.

Just trying a new strategy as its not a big $$ league. What do you think? Am I giving up too much?

if you have a feeling about how the draft is goin down then its ok if you plan around it... ive seen alot of people brag about having AP but then their qb&#x27;s are garbage and they have no bench depth...

I envision a scenario such as Brees, A young back such as Bell, Lacy, or Stacy. Maybe in some odd twist a guy like Doug Martin or Arian foster slip. I will surely grab the best available WR, Green, Bryant, Jones, or Marshall and hole and pray one of the stud TE's, specifically Graham or Gronk slip. then fill the final pick with best available player.

I'm not big on must strategy such as RB-RB, I believe in more of a RB-WR with the first two picks, I feel when you solidify owe of each, you have more flexibility with the ever changing landscape out there. Not being married to a guy who may be on an off yeah. Kind of been burned recently with that approach, forcing myself to take a RB with my 2nd round pick. Then as the season progressed and some new faces like Bell or Stacy arrived, I was having to decide what to do I with CJ or and MJD.

Biz- tough one, not sure I could do it. Studs win leagues and depth can be had and found all season. Especially in a 10 man

Curious who you really want at # 1 and why you dint opt for # 3

Knowing you'd get Charles Peterson or McCoy

I tried this many years ago (late 90&#x27;s probably) where I gave my 1st and 4th for someone 2nd and 3rd in a 12 team league.....   Injuries to a few guys marred the deal...Looking back at one of my leagues last year, picking 19-22 would get you any QB not named Peyton, WR&#x27;s except for C.Johnson, Bryant, Green, Jones, and Thomas (Jimmy Graham also) and at RB guys like Forte, Bush, Murray, Lacy (not this year) were around.    In hindsight, you could have had Brees, Lacy, Forte and Brandon Marshall last year using this strategy

Hit send too early....As opposed to keeping the first pick where you have the #1 RB you want, and then 2 of those 4 guys mentioned.    It&#x27;s a toss-up I think...   That top pick can explode every week and win games.... so is the #1 pick worth a 2nd/3rd tier committee RB and a good WR?

He axed the deal anyway but asked if we may revisit come closer to the draft.

Goon, In the words of Bart Scott, I "CANT WAIT" until the prop bets. Things were great last year, took some hits at the very end, that one week it was a bloodbath, but overall its a betting avenue that is rather new and the odds makers don't quite have history on their side yet.

I chose the #1 overall pick because it will not only guarantee me who I want, but also having that back to back in the latter parts of the draft was important to me. Right now I am leaning McCoy with AP a close second.

Are you swapping 1&#x27;s and picking up his 2nd and 3rd or just trading him your 1 for his 2nd and 3rd? If so I would love his end of the deal in a 10 team league. I would also like your situation as well but I think I would rather start my team off with McCoy and Charles/Forte in a 1/2 PPR format. I think this is a deal that would work well for both of you. It&#x27;s kind of the ultimate stars and scrubs vs balance and depth experiment. He is still going to get some decent players with his 4th and 5th but you will have a more balanced roster. Please keep this thread updated through out the season because I would love to know how this pans out as the season progresses. I think I would rather have his end of the deal but I wouldn&#x27;t be shocked if I was wrong either. Even if you&#x27;re wrong on this experiment this will be great info for future reference. Train, he ended up passing on the deal. I&#x27;m kind of glad he did though. What I&#x27;m seeing left over at that 19-22 range isn&#x27;t what I thought would become. The rankings are being readjusted. I thought I could get an Arian foster or Doug Martin in those spots but those are pipe dreams now. And I won&#x27;t get one of the 3 QBs or 6 WRs I want either. But this is an interesting study. Last year in this same league I completely whiffed on my first pick, Doug Martin and still ended up in the title game.

Bummer. I would have liked to see how this deal worked out for both of you in the long run. I would have liked to see how this affected roster turnover and waiver strategy too. Maybe I&#x27;ll see if I can swing a similar type of deal in one of my leagues.

&#xD;&#xA;I thought so too. At first I liked my side but the more I looked at it I think I was getting the worse end of that deal. Having both the #1 and #2 picks is HUGE! He could&#x27;ve got McCoy and Purple Jesus or Chuck or even went RB/WR and gone with Megatron to form a sick duo. Realticially all it would have cost him was a pick and that was the #19 overall. Since it basically is a swap with a lil sweetener. Either way I&#x27;m pumped for draft season. My first one is next Sunday the 17th.

Make that trade all day but play it safe with the WR&#x27;s and QB and maybe grab Gronk or Graham if you can

Barring some nonsense, I&#x27;m taking AP first overall. When the wrap around comes taking the highest volume RB or one of my top 5 WRs and the Gronk.

Talking about what he COULD HAVE HAD last year is moot... No way he could have forseen the years some would have. Forte that early, no one would have done it, he was a 3rd / 4th rounder last year...

That spot is tough and you are pciking guys you HOPE have a good season.
