I currently have the Steelers defense but am thinking about picking up the Saints for Week One.
Here's my defense scoring:
1 - 10 PA = 5 points
I am thinking the Saints return game might take one back against the shitty Lions kick coverage. Also, with Stafford starting, he is good for a bunch of sacks and turnovers. Also, there is a shot the Lions don't score more than 10 points and I get a bonus.
Steelers get the Titans, who are more than competent. Titans should score more than 10 points and the Steelers don't any any kind of return game.
To do this, I will have to drop Josh Morgan out of my line-up.
What do you guys think? Should I pick-up the Saints for Week One and drop Morgan, or play it out with the Steelers?
Thanks.

Saints game should be high scoring...you could gamble on them, but there is a reason you took the steelers d. titans overachieved a little last year and with them playing the champs on opening night on national tv, I think big turnovers, sacks, and a few pts.
I'd roll with the steelers.

Steelers all the way. You didn't pick Steelers D so you could sit them on the bench. If you wanted to play the matchups week by week you shouldn't have wasted an early pick on defense.

Start Pitt D every week regardless of who they're playing! You'd rarely say a defense is matchup proof, but that's the case here.
Plus I think the Lions offense will be pretty solid this year. A decent preseason isn't enough to sell me on the Saints D. And I think there is supposed to be some sort of ruling today on Grant & Smith.

I would have to agree with everyone else. If you were willing to draft the Steelers D over other position players available (as you did), then stick with your original thought that they are the best D and play them no matter what.

Thing is, my scoring in the league gives no penalties for points allowed. Lions could stack 60 on the Saints and it doesn't hurt me. I only get a bonus if they hold them to 10 or less.
I think Tenn will get at least 11 points. Lions? Not so sure with Stafford starting and both Smith and Grant playing for the Saints (not suspended).
Tenn is a much smarter team who will run it more, making less chances for sacks and INTs. Lions will play from behind so they will try to chuck the ball desperately = SACKS, INTs, FORCED FUMBLES.
Plus, Steelers have ZERO return game. Saints are one of the Top 10 teams in the League in returns and Top 5 in punt returns. Lions special teams are worst in the league and they can't stop anyone on punt returns..... Great chance for Bush or Rod Harper to break one.
I think I will go with the Saints for this week as I think the Steelers will NOT score on special teams and the Titans will put up at least 11 points. With the Lions, I think they have a chance of staying 10 or less and of giving up a return TD.
Thanks again everyone for your input! Steelers back in next week!

Just to let you know too, by strategy was to draft a defense in the 14th Round of 15 in my 10-team league. Thing was, at the 11th Round, everyone I was targeting was off the board and everyone I wanted was deeper sleeper than 11th Round......guys in my league are sharp. So, I just say to hell with it and grabbed the Steelers.
First time ever in almost a decade of fantasy football that I have had a premier defense. Wow. Wonder what that is going to be like? Hahaha...
Have fun Sunday guys!
