I reside normally in MLB forum, but I'm trying my luck on the World Cup. I have followed International soccer for a long time as purely an aficionado, so I do not profess to be a kingpin bettor on this sport. There are so many intangibles in Football especially the World Cup. It can be crazy and why I'm just betting 2U except for some Futures. I thought it might be fun to follow some games and wager some spare change and keep track of it here.
The month long World Cup tourney is a very special time for anyone even remotely interested in World Football. That's why I'm here to get in on the fun.

First
up it should be said, Croatia were extremely unlucky and demonstrated
that they should reach the knockout stage of the tourney. Of course the
penalty should not have been given. Football it appears is the only
major world sport that doesn't have video review and it desperately
needs it. I and many others believe that World football requires coaches
reviews not unlike the NFL system. Both coaches should be allowed a
maximum of 2 reviews of critical decisions per game in major
tournaments. The in goal technology will hardly be used while an untold
number of poor decisions such as what we witnessed today will be treated
as usual as just part n parcel of the game. Well that frankly is not
good enough and FIFA have to get out of their conservative/traditional
mindset and bring this game into the 21st century.
Back to the
game, Brazil looked very rusty, tired (in the second half) and most
surprisingly imprecise. Their first touches and ball control which is
normally exemplary were today, very ordinary. However whenever they ran
with the ball in the centre, namely Neymar and Oscar, they were a real
threat, but didn't do it hardly enough. In fact they rarely had control
of the midfield today. Thanks to those aforementioned players, Brazil
scraped through. Expect to see a calmer and more precise Brazil as they
get used to playing together again. They have to do something about
their midfield positioning, because they were lucky to get the 3-1 win.
Luiz was sensational down back. Id pick him in my team every day of the
week and twice on sundays. But apart from Luiz' standout tackles and
defensive headers, the back line looked brittle on many occasions. Brazil have a lot of work to do if they are going to go far, not to take anything away from Croatia's impressive performance.

The England - Italy game was the hardest for me to choose so I went with the missus who liked Italy to win which I liked originally. I have her to blame if they lose. Haha. However, I will be supporting Eng. So it's a win either way except of course if it's a draw. Uruguay was the easiest to choose since they need to beat Costa Rica if they want to make progression a whole lot easier in a tough group.
They should win with a more talented group, but their defence is very average, so I'm a bit concerned about that against better teams than Greece. I hope I'm right. Viva Colombia!!!!!!

Looking at tomorrow's games, but not sure if I'll pull the trigger on any. The price of Ecuador looks great, but I'll have to see why it looks so great.
Cheers.

Curious about the choice of Algeria+1.5...I see this being at least a 3-0 4-1 win for Belgium. Too much talent and attack from both wings. Algeria have been playing well...but the level of talent should show through in this match. Just wanted input on why you like Algeria +1.5?
