First why is FIFA holding the WC on a Fri - Sat schedule when Sat - Sun would draw a better rating with everyone off work Sunday? And why have England - Sweden as the early game when that is the marque matchup and be stuck with  Russia - Croatia in the prime slot?

Probably because the rest of the world is out of work by game time so they can watch and drink and not worry about going to work the next day.
