protein shakes make sure you follow uo right after workout. Muscles weigh more than fat keep doing 5x5 you will bulk as i did. Now 2 years later im trying to loose and go with a jacked look, im 43 in july. Check out bodybuilders dot com. Oh and i got up to 425 squat it goes quick.

10x10's are also pretty sweet. may only get 2-3 exercises in per workout, but a great overload and more in the range of hypertrophy (if thats what you are looking for). Obviously choosing multi joint exercises would be most beneficial for this type of workout.

The 5x5 will give you a good strength/size base. I kind of ditched it for a 5x5/doggcrapp hybrid.
Ex: I do 1-2 warmup sets then I hit my 5 rep squat. After that I take the weight down a bit and start doing 1 rest pause set (do 4 reps of a weight you can normally do 8-10 times, then rest 10 seconds, then do 4 reps, etc. - repeat until you can no longer do 4 reps)
It has been working for muscle building AND fat loss, pretty rare as most people say shit like you cant do both at the same time. On this I only do 1 exercise per body part.
