Best Excericse at the gym...
Breathing Squats 2 X 20
(three deep breaths prior to each rep)
followed by pullovers

Sounds interesting but isn't that borderline hyperventilation?
Might try those and see if I can keep from passing out.![]()

2 sets of 20 squats ?
That's the strangest thing I've ever heard..
As far as the breathing goes, I've seen people do them, there's no benefit to doing them..
I have also seen people do front squats, also a worthless exercise..
Do 5x5 squats, Strong lifts.
It is as simple as that.

There are many sources that advocate 20 rep squats. Iron Man is one, the book Super Squats is another, and Michael Brown in The Strength of Samson is another yet.
There's a guy in Cyprus named Stuart McRobert that published Hardgainer magazine (no longer in print, still online). McRobert has dedicated his life to studying training and wrote the Brawn books.

It's like 5 x 10, 8, 6, 4,etc..
20 is a warmup set....

However it seems that 5x5 workout with pre warm up sets is commonly preferred among strong lifters.

Really because if he was wise he would know that it is not simply 1 set of 20 reps of squats for the main workout.
The 20 reps is simply a warmup..
But he must have already known that I'm sure.

5x5 is geared for size, power, and strength.
You'll get stronger both ways.
But unless you've been doing squats for a long time, shouldn't be doing that 2 x 20 which really is not a 2x20 its a:
warmup: 1x20, 1x10, 1x6 (or whatever else warmup nonsense you want to do )
work sets: You break up the 20 into 5 sets most likely likely you do more than 20. 1x10, 1x8, 1x6, 1x4
Point is 5x5 is for beginners and even advanced weight lifters, if you start to plateau you move to 3x5. Arnold did 5x5
Higher reps and lighter weight is not the way to go.. Toning doesn't exist if that's what you're getting at..
5x5 is the best way to go for someone stepping into the weight room for the first time or even someone coming back to the weight room after a long sabbatical or even someone looking to change their workout plan because they're not getting results.
Additionally compound lifts are better to do lower reps higher weight..

Stiln,
10...8....6...4 is right out of the late Vvince Gironda's training methods. It's folllowed by a final set of 15, with a lighter weight of course.
Re: 20 rep squats, wee what you find on J.C. Hise and Roger Ells.
Have a good workout.

A Yahoo article agrees with Stiln that the squat is the best exercise at gyms because many large muscles are affected. Squat has excellent return on investment in building strength, endurance and flexibility.

I talk to clowns at the gym and some say deadlifts might be better, but personally I think squats are the best.
Most people dont understand, especially those that don't ever do squats at the gym for God knows whatever reason, that squats build core strength that also helps upper body strength as well as tones your backside and your abs.

Pull-ups are the best overall exercise for the body.
He's partially right but only if you're training back an rear delts for width.
There is no best exorcise, it all depends on what and how you want to develop/shock the muscles. All a science depending on what you want to build up and then carve. 10 years minimum in b4 most serious gym rats even understand what it takes to shake off incorrect training habits.

Strength, endurance, muscular endurance, cardio...that takes a fat dump on your "squats" which are only important for pea-brain juiceheads like yourself. Go take your steroids and drink your protein so you can look like a human steroid (like Dwight Howard who can't move his elbows) while I look like GSP/Mayweather and can actually use my muscles for something functional. Rack me
