I want to build muscle, an get a nice ripped look. I don't wanna be all cock diesel. Just a nice build and ripped. I weighed 185 when i started going to the gym in the very Beginning of July, i have been keeping my calories under 1300 a day easily and going to the gym about 4 times a week. I usually run for 25-30 minutes which ends up being 2.5 to 3 miles every time run. Then i will lift weights and do various exercises for another 30 minutes. I checked my weight today, i now weigh 169, so i have lost 16lbs all in 3 months. Now i am at the point that losing another 10lbs and i should have little body fat.
I really haven't built the muscle i was looking for, i am guessing it will take some time, cause 3 months obviously isn't enough time.
If i continue on my course will i start to build muscle? Or do i need to started upping my calories and gain more weight while still running a lot and lifting weighs? Or is there another way to build this muscle. I actually really want my ABS to be ripped us the most.

You will lose weight, but to gain muscle you need to increase your protein intake as people have said...
the other is to rotate your muscle groups and schedule rest as well as work out... except for abs which you can do daily which is good because that is one of your goals...

Cutting & building at the same time is very tough to do.............you need to lift heavy & with intensity to build.........& feed your body. Most important to get a good dose of protein right after your workout, then supplement with a good balanced diet in between. It's literally impossible to put an exact # on the amount of calories to consume per day as your body is constantly changing. But, suffice to say, you're NOT going to build on 1300 cals a day. Once you get going in lifting you're probably going to have to triple that. Most serious BB's eat more than is required just to make sure the muscles are getting all they need to rebuild, then cut before an event.
Consult some BB books or magazines.........there's a million different ways to get the same results but they all entail heavy lifting & discipline. Read & learn..........anyone that wants it bad enough can have it.

eat about 3800 calories and 250 grams of protein for your weight. Lots of fish ie., salmon, talipia, tuna tuna tuna. Chicken, brown rice, sweet potatoes, greek yogurt. You want about 6.-7 meals a day. 1 hr of lifting 5 days a week. In that one hour dont walk around and talk to people. Rest 50 seconds between sets.
