I've had an injury on my right rotator cuff for the last yr or so. IT is my shooting arm. I'm a PG and pull up alot of 3's - i'm not sure if it's wear & tear from basketball or wrong form when lifting weights. I rested it for about 4-5 months, along w/ the rest of my body as i have back and knee problems. I started to play again about a month ago and is giving my problems once more.
If i play ball once a week it's ok. If i play but don't play a day or 2 after to give it time to rest it's ok - granted i stretch before and after & ice after. When i don't stretch, especially post workout it can hurt - hurting even more if i fail to ice it down at least 30 mins after.
But last week i played on a Thursday, i did stretch but failed to ice down within 30-60 mins......it didn't properly recover and was sore for 2 days. On that Sunday it was starting to recover and did not feel any soreness, just not as comfortable & 100% fully recovered, i played ball & was sore all of the very next week.
Do you guys have any recommendations.....stretches, exercises etc. i could do to help strengthen it. Would be much appreciated. I have daily stretches i do wich i will post once i have time that has helped alot. but any other things i can do would help me greatly.
cheers

I also did something to my left (non-throwing) shoulder over the winter (actually aggravated it twice)... I get a pinching pain in the area of my collarbone, and have trouble extending over my head and reaching back over my head..... It has never really been painful until Tuesday when I shot 4 free throws just as a warm up and got a shooting sensation all the way down my left arm to my wrist and I couldn't move my entire arm at all. My friend who is a personal trainer/pro boxer said the nerve is getting pinched wherever my original injury is from. I have never felt anything like that, but after some rest and Advil I was able to play softball the next night.
