My wife and I watched Fat Sick and Nearly Dead about a month ago on Netflix and we've been talking about giving it a shot. We aren't huge vegi eaters but we eat fairly healthy including good portions of fruit and veg during the week and terrible on weekends. I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to actually down this concoction. We bought enough stuff this week just to try the "Mean Green" from the movie and I have to say I was shocked at how decent it actually tasted.
6 Kale Leaves 1 Cucumber 4 Celery Stalks 2 Green Apples 1/2 Lemon 1 piece of ginger
I actually felt an energy rush much like drinking an energy drink after drinking this. I guess now that I've come to terms with the taste issue, I need to come to terms with the hunger issue. I've got an exam for a professional accounting designation coming up in a few weeks but once that is done I think i'm going to give it a shot for 7-10 days. In the mean time I might try substituting a one of these for lunch a couple days a week and see how that goes.

i still have until sunday but i think i'm giving this juice diet the . i maybe feel a little better from an inflammation standpoint but i'm still a little hazy and i don't feel any extra energy. i ran last night and i was breathing heavy pretty early on which is rare.
i may do it periodically for a few days just to detox because i did get that headache/nausea for days two and three and they say that's a sign of getting rid of toxins (like withdrawal symptoms) but beyond that, the Sharpaction Diet seems to be the way to go.

as i said earlier, i think everyone should do the 30 day elimination diet because that serves a very distinct, important purpose that would benefit anyone.
however, i'm not so high on the 7 day juice diet. i think it's probably helpful for about 3 days and i'll probably do it agian periodically for that time period. i say that because i did mild headaches and a foggy feeling for days 2 and part of day 3. if this is the body releasing the toxins that build up into the blood stream so they can be eliminated, then it worked to that extent. i don't know that's what it is but i suppose it makes sense.
beyond that, this diet didn't do anything for me. i didn't have as much energy as i normally do and i didn't see any benefit after 3 days, just negatives.
i suppose if you are used to eating a pretty shitty diet, then a longer juice diet makes sense. but if you are on a pretty good diet normally, a juice diet a couple of times a year may make sense but i don't see any reason to go beyond 3 days.
one other thing that was pretty interesting but should have been obvious. i only technically cheated once. i was running short on time and had to have a grapefruit for lunch about 5 days in. not having had sugar in several days, the grapefruit tatsed much sweeter than normal. i also had a container of pure carrot juice in my refrigerator. it was taking me a while to drink it before the diet because it just tasted too much like carrots. imagine that. but i had some yesterday and it tasted like koolaid.
the conclusion is that we easily get addicted to sugar and build up a sorit of tolerance to its sweet taste. most of us like sugar and desserts but we really don't need much. limiting sugar is good for a number of reasons but limiting sugar also helps you wants less sugar. conversely, i imagine that consuming a lot of sugar makes us want more sugar, like any addictive substance.
finally, just to be sure, for the next 7 days, i'm eating nothing with added sugar and staying away from all non-gluten carbs like rice, crackers, etc.

sharp, i agree with you. i'm really doing it for two reasons. first, it was my wife's idea. she's still stuck in the old way of thinking- scared of eating fat, eats too many carbs, etc. so, if she wants to try a diet like this that avoids a lot of sugar and bad carbs, i'll do it with ehr so she sees it through.
as for me, my elimination diet went very well. i know that's all i need. but i've digressed a little and have eaten too much sugar since then, although still not very much. this might help me get back to normal. plus, i think i missed a couple of things. i know gluten and sugar are a problem, but i think there's something else. likely dairy or alcohol. i don't consume much of either but i think the little i was consuming was causing some problems.
finally, i like to try difficult things just to keep myself mentally sharp. from a mental standpoint, i think everyone should try deprivation from time to time.
but in a week, i'll be back to my meat, eggs, vegetables, fruit and nuts standard diet.
I didn't even read this whole thread but this is some of the best logic I have heard in a while. Everyone should challeng themselves at some point if not for any other reason than just to do so. Kudos!
