You guys ever make homemade ie cream?

I am thinking about buying an ice cream maker so I can make my own flavors. Any of you own an ice cream maker or made your own ice cream? Any suggestions with regards to a machine or a brand? Good, bad, not worth it, etc..

Not worth it.....Never tastes as good and it's a pain in the ass....

Don't worry though, in about an hour you'll have 30 posts from GBP on different stupid ass recipes he finds on the food network.

I;ve made my own ice cream in biology class hahahha. It came out very good but we didnt have an ice cream maker obviously. But nonetheless it was pretty dam good.

Definitely not a substitution to Ben & Jerry's though

I think someone else made a thread about an ice cream maker not too long ago - I'll see if I can wade through this mess to find it.

And FYI, I've made both sherbet and sorbet before and those didn't turn out too bad, although those are a little more straight forward than ice cream.

fond memories of making it on my grandfather's porch during the summers as a kid. Don't remember the model, but it was just a basic no frills model for sure. It's just like buying a fishing rod, how much do you want to spend...

When I was in my early 20's I got myself a soft serve and regular ice cream maker (2 different machines).  They are collecting dust in my garage today.  Don't bother unless you REALLY want to make your own icecream.

Just if you want the fun of doing it yourself.  Seems you can get BOGO eveyweek in some supermarket.  So price wise it's cheaper to just buy it.  But it interesting to make your own sometimes.
