ok im new to whole parlay betting. ive played the parlay cards a lot but just getting into dealing with straight up bets and 2 teamers. my question is how does the 2 teamer payout from a bookie. i know its roughly 2.5. for example if i CALL(never actually put the money up) a bookie and bet 100 on say st louis and over and win both, do i get 250 back or is my 100 that i hadnt actually put up yet in the pot and get taken out of my 250? so by calling in a bet of 100 on a 2 teamer would i get back 150 or 250? its been blowing my mind. ive heard both ways

even with no money put up to begin with? im getting confused because of the cards. they pay 6/1 on 3 teams. now the odds for 2 teams from what ive found is technically 13/5...
3 teams...pay 100 get back 600 2 teams...pay 100 get back 260
3 teams...bet 100 but not put it up, get back 500 2 teams...bet 100 but not put it up, get back 150
thats how i think it should be, the guy ive been betting with is just getting into actually taking bets other than the cards himself. see my confusion

1) The parlay card way - these pay out for example "5 for 1". This means you give them 1 for your bet before hand, and if you win they give you 5 for a profit of 4.
2) The bookie way - these pay out "5 to 1". That means if you lose, you lose 1, but if you win you get the 1 back (if you had to post it up front) and still win 5 for a profit of 5.
3) The legit sportsbook way. These also payout the same way as #2, but the winning is calculating by multiplying the odds for the original bet. Let's say you bet two games at +100 each, you would get paid 4 to 1.
#1 is the worst. They try to make their odds look better by stating them "for 1".
#2 is a little better, but they still have a lot of extra juice. In the example from 3, you would only get 2.5 to 1.
If you bet parlays, you really want to be paid #3, because that is the "true odds".
You can google "parlay calculator" and put your bets in to see what you should get paid.

Hi Myke,
There are three ways you can bet a parlay in US.
