It would be nice or more accurately decent if we could get an open and honest statement of EXACTLY what the relationship between Covers and Beted is/was. An undisclosed ownership interest would certainly appear to constitute a conflict of interest.

I see that Lou has posted an update, which is good.
In my absence, I see a vicious rumor has been started by what I can only assume are some pretty bad people with nothing better to do with their time than to start rumors that might place other innocent people in legal jeopardy.
Let me say, in no uncertain terms, that Covers does not, did not, never has and never will own any part of betED. Period.
They were an advertiser. Period.
To suggest otherwise is pure bullshit of the worst kind, because it puts me, my company and all of its employees in danger of being somehow targeted by the same over-zealous officials that are targeting betED and the poker sites.
Let's make this clear... This industry is suffering from a witch-hunt of sorts, and to recklessly throw the word "owner" around when you don't know what you are talking about is about the stupidest and most dangerous thing you can do. I hope it never happens to you.
Let's end this now.

We have received trustworthy information saying that negotiations are in full swing with a respected operation and that an official announcement should be made within a few days.

Thanks for the update! This is definitely good news for players but I just hope there isn't some ridiculous rollover (more than 10x) just to make a withdrawal. If a deal is worked out, then I guess many of these rumors that Beted ran with our money, never to be heard from again, would quite down and we can all focus on blaming the DOJ again.

freedom, how will this deal work for those of us who already have an account at the other book? or those of us who don't have an account there?
any ideas on how the funds would become available (all at once, over time, rollover requirements, etc)?
and would there be a rollover requirement?
i'm still having somewhat a hard time comprehending exactly why a book would want to bail out a dead book like beted. I mean I get that they get a ton of names and potential business, but many of us probably at least already have dormant accounts with whoever this bailout book is gonna be.

Lou your an excellent person who has helped out many on this forum, so don't take this personally, but to defend covers at this point is inexcusable.
Covers is one of the largest advertising streams for online books on the internet. A trusted world wide leader in this industry. They decided to make BetED the #1 sports book under the listings. People trusted that recommendation. Many people are very confused by the online wagering process and covers was supposed to help those people out. Hell, as part of that recommendation I even gave BetED a try and I'm far from a novice.
So covers excuse is "we didn't know". Ok, let's assume that's truthful.
What you did know is the largest poker site in the world was just seized by the DOJ. That the climate in the Unites States was very unstable. That BetED did not carry an A+ rating. That BetED cut off players who won as standard practice. That BetED limited withdraw amounts below industry standards as a stalling tactic. That BetED was willing to falsify transactions (a real book like Pinnacle for example, left the market instead of playing this game). That BetED was one of the only books to offer instant funding (which was clearly illegal to process with American clients). You had to have known that, you wrote articles for years about it....
Covers, you might not have known about the seizure coming. But your no better then any other greedy, selfish, organization, legal or illegal, that gets caught with it's pants down. All you have to say is I didn't know. I didn't know. Yes, you knew, you knew well before any of this started, you were just to busy lining your pockets with advertising revenue to give a crap.
