Not all that uncommon. Some people bet what they don't have. Some live pay check to pay check. Get set up with a local and have a predetermined amount to meet. I have both online and local. Last year I met my local twice during football. Kinda like a line of credit.

Local books step in to provide a needed service in most areas where laws prohibit taking wagers as an establishment. Makes sense.

The ONLY reason there would be local books in vegas is to prey upon the deadbeats that cannot put the money up for a wager. If you assume that to be true, if you find a local in vegas, I would guess that individual is a very ruthless, no excuses type.

If you want to deal with that kind of street thug, be my guest.

locals that im aware of in vegas will charge you 5 % vig like a loan shark if you cant pay..thats 5% weekly.there are some obvious advantages like earned credit and paying off or collecting once a week.you can also get yourself in trouble.you maybe able to walk to a casino in 5 mins but i can make a bet in 5 sec over a cell phone at work.the cops careless about locals or loansharks.
