So I introduced an acquaintance to my local bookie. The acquaintance
lost the first week, it was only $1000, but he gave my bookie an excuse
that he wasn't feeling well, blah blah blah, and paid my bookie 1 week
late. The 2nd week the acquaintance won like around $800, my bookie
said you pay me late, I pay you late. You'll get paid next week. So
the acquaintance was a little pissed off over it.

What do you expect when degenerates are betting on credit? They will gladly meet a bookie virtually anywhere to collect, but when they owe, they go into hiding all together. Unless cash is put up front before accepting a wager (which is unlikely), plenty of immature assholes are going to stiff you; even the occasional deadbeat bookie will do the same.
