"Perhaps the most puzzling question here is why Covers/betED turned down
the BetOnLine bailout offer. We have been in direct contact with
BetOnLine and know that, contrary to what Covers is reporting, there was
a solid offer put on the table and Covers/BetED have not even responded
to it. We hope this does not mean that betED are just going to reappear
under a new name and still force all the players to accept a deal
requiring excessive rollover requirements. The industry could do without
another such (self-inflicted) black eye. The other big question is who
has all the player balances that wouldn’t have been held in operating
accounts. Has this money already been spent by reckless and greedy
owners or do they still have it and just don’t want to give it back?"

The more im reading about this, the more its just starting to piss me off. Sbr had a deal in place with an A rated book. Betonline also had a deal in place. Why the f-k is this not getting done??? My opinion has always been that covers is trying to help but something just doesnt add up. Every single person on every forum is saying that covers is messing the deal up...Im not ready to bail on my faith ion covers but something just isnt right, This damn thing needs to get done already...hopefully tomorrow.

In honor of LVTruck, this is disconcerting and some parties are definitely acting disingenuously, and even duplicitiously. This might be a good time to follow the money, obviously Beted has a vested financial interest here and have proven to be shifty at best, Covers also appears to have a vested interest and all fingers are being pointed at their effort to obfuscate a deal, while SBR may have its own motivation, it is not a vested interest and in my opinion appears the most credible at the moment. I have said from the beginning that I didn't like the smell of the situation nor what appeared to be a conflict of interest and honestly this stench is growing more foul on a daily basis.

Does anyone know if there are any sites dedicated to what beted did or what is going on. It is very hard for me to find info on what is going on with beted. My best info has really only been found on this forum.

i was interested in the part about beted being number 1 at covers and not really prominent elsewhere. Whether currently part of the problem or not, covers got burned. And if it is indeed true that books now view advertising here as suicidal, a lesson is learned about praising the greatness of your top book as opposed to having them on the masthead and saying nothing and letting players make their own decisions based on the book reviews given.

What can I say? Go ahead and trust Bodog's mouthpiece. To show you what that know, they have been harassing people who haven't worked at Covers for two years. Meanwhile, I gave them a complete and precise statement and they ignored it and went for the tabloid bullshit.
We've had a love-hate relationship with Bodog ever since we booted them off the site four years ago when they slow-payed the American market for the better part of a year.
Since then they have been up and down here a couple of times. Currently down - which I guess means we are in a "hate" phase.
All I will say is that if I really had this super-special relationship with betED, we probably would be providing more clear and accurate news updates, wouldn't I?
Fact is, as I said before and many sites are reporting, yes, there were other offers, but not every offer was good for betED or the players. They are working the offers they find to be the best for everybody.
But I'm tired of getting backed into a corner and then taking shit because I'm trying to act like an adult.
Let's give an example of an offer betED turned down. And I will also say that this offer came from one of the books that an opposing forum has been pushing on betED to reconsider...
I was told there was an offer of cash upfront (which would be nice for betED, no?) and a sweet longterm rev-share (which would also be nice, no?) but the players would have had to suffer through a 10X rollover (standard), but with a minimum of 90-days stay at the new operation. The idea from that operator was to lock the players down and keep them there till football season started, come hell or highwater.
So, yes it was a fair offer - even a great offer - for betED, but they thought it was unfair to the players and they were looking for something with no time restrictions.
If this is the deal betED players want, then by all means, lets have a vote right now!!
I'm sure the betED guys are reading this right now and they would be happy to move in that direction - after all, it's a much better deal financially for them, not so much for the players.
OK people. Start voting.

We always had a great relationship with betED up till the minute things went sour, and talked to them all the time as we talk to all of our advertisers.
After the seizure, however, they suddenly became very suspicious of any kind of communication involving anything trackable such as phone, emails, etc. And rightfully so... they had a lot to worry about.
So it was impossible for me to even find out what happened, what was going on, and what their plans were. I was relying on secondhand sources or cryptic messages. It was driving me crazy.
So I figured - hell, I'll go down there and find out the truth. And so I did. I was in town for about 24 hours and got caught up to that point. I heard about a few offers they had received and which ones they were following up.
I wasn't any part of any negotiations. I just happened to be down there while it was going on, which was awesome at the time. They thought it would be wrapped up within a day or two.
And now that I'm back from CR? I'm back to the same terrible sources as before, which explains why over the last few days my information has gotten hazier and hazier.

Saratoga,

I just don't get, how come you didn't want to explain to us about the
deal when we were waiting for the bailout? why tell us about it after
the article I post? I just don't understand it.

While SBR may have its own motivation, it is not a vested interest and in my opinion,,,, Well sure it is, that customer list that we are on is the motivation, and if SBR was to broker such a deal it would be a BIG SCORE. SBR would make money on all the residuals, I think 90% of the books would take he customer list, with a roll over prevision,
and a some sort of time restriction on withdraws.Everyone wants a fair resolution, some of us go about our venting it in a different way.
Your post are condescending and filled with speculation, mine are drunken, profanity, rants, with poor sentence structure, but for you to put the blame on covers is juvenile, and regardless of the size of your vocabulary, it truly shows your disconnect to the online gaming industry, and life in general.

Why fly down to Costa Rica for just one day? This scandal has hurt Covers a whole bunch and a bail out or whatever u want to call it could be the only thing that saves Covers' reputation in endorsing online sports books. I have discovered the other forums since this whole thing broke down.

Dude your desire to kiss the back side of Covers is perverse at best and depraved at worst, and I've been doing this a lot longer than you've been going that, regardless of the size of my vocabulary.

Two points here:
1) Despite what other forums might say, I don't own betED. I have no business brokering deals. Then I would definitely be accused of being an owner.
2) Two lifetime posts and now you are discovering other forums. Well, thanks for your contribution while you were here.
