It's funny you started this thread..i have been on the biggest winning streak of my life..up over 35 thousand since the beginning of october and im happy, but not as ecstatic as i thought i would be. Im hoping when football season is over i can sit down and it will all sink in. The backup QB for Boise ran in a TD with a few secs left to get the over against Fresno and that put me up about 4 grand and i was jumping around the living room..i think i was happier then than i am now when im up over 35..and i have no idea why.

Thing that worries me is if I don't enjoy the money and wins anymore is there a point to gambling? I hope I've just become complacent and things will pick back up during the playoffs

I hear you, before this streak i used to feel like a kid on Christmas morning during college football saturdays..now it's kind of like another day at the office..I keep telling myself how lucky i am, the economy sucks, people are having their houses foreclosed on and here i am with thousands of dollars of found money..dont get me wrong, i am happy..just not nearly as happy as i thought id be.

yeah I used to cover a couple straight bets for a couple 100 bux and be bouncing around the room or hit a 3 teamer and not be able to sleep that night. Now I win like 1000 in a day or go 5-0 and its just not the same

It's good to know im not alone..i was starting to thinking i could be the only one who could think this way during a winning streak. I think part of the reason i might not be enjoying it as much as i thought is because im beginning to wonder if i truly have a gambling addiction..i dont play horses, dont play in the casino, it's only sports, but im having a hard time taking even 1 day off from betting..the plan is to take an extended time off after the playoffs and come back during the NCAA tournament and play $150-$200 a game.

Unless you actually use your winnings to live, you will find satisfaction in purchasing things of value. Nice Pool Tables, motorcycles, jewlery, etc.
In my opinion you are at a place that one gets too that is dangerous and you start to do things stupid with wagering.
Just my thoughts, but from a money management standpoint I put 50% of winnings when I cash out in to investments and have it to where it needs myself and my wife (very understanding wife to sign to get the money out). For now it's going for my 8 year olds future education along with piano lessons, gymnastics, nice vacations etc.
For me the trick was to spend the money to get past that "it's funner to lose" which of course it's not, it's just the endorphins you feel when you have a "must win" is gone when you are way ahead or have a decent system in place.....gotta get past that though.

$800 in to over $87,000, and your hilltoppers made a bowl game..you are on a roll..it is amazing how a gambling addiction can play with your mind the way it does. I win over 35 grand and im not as happy as i expected to be but if i had lost 35 grand id be depressed as hell and my thoughts would be totally consumed by the money i lost..starting to think i should spend part of the money i won on a fucking shrink lol.

It is my guess you probably want to walk away for awhile but don't know how because you are bored. If it were me I would walk away for 3-4 days and reevaluate my life and goals...

JasonDC, I am happy with the amount I've won and yes I'm on a roll. I started out with a 2 teamer for 800. Hit that and had around 3K after that hit. Doubled up 2 times and was sitting on around 11K and some change after 8 hours. I backed off then and bet a thousand a game here and there and then went up to 3K a game on a few games. The one game that sticks out is the New Orleans/Detroit SNF game. That was my final double up game. Played 1st half over 27.5. It was 3-0 end of 1st Q but hit 31 points (28 in 2nd Q). That was the best game of my streak. My Hilltoppers finished bowl eligible but didn't make it in one I'm afraid but they are heading in the right direction football wise (not basketball wise).
Kapono, my money is with bookmaker.eu. I'm not worried about them to be honest. They are IMO the most stable book out there and I believe if for any reason they ever shut their doors to Americans I think they would do as Pinnacle did and VIP did and allow all of your money to be withdrawn. I'm withdrawing 3K a week thru the "check my courier" method and have 9K out so far. All of the checks I have requested (I'm only allowed 1 request per 7 days) have been in my possession within 3 business days of the request and have cleared no problem.

To profit in the long run from sports betting is hard even if you do your homework and treat it like a business..more businesses fail than succeed.

I started sports betting for "additional income" and I thought it would be easy. Stupid me. It's hard! That's why VERY few people do it for a living and the ones that do already have lots of money. But I've learned to enjoy the process. I love the research. I love the thrill of the wins. I don't make a lot of money at it, but now I'm churning a small profit and I really enjoy it. I know I can never make a living at it, but the dream is still there and it keeps me going.

I don't post often, but thought this was interesting. You can do what you want with my comment's below - just some random thoughts/past experiences.
Here is a better option. Take your winnings and flush it down the drain, hit yourself over the head with a sledge hammer - then repeat 5-10x's. That is what it will be like if you want that 'winning' feeling back. Take it as, it has come. I do not know you so I won't judge. When it has become too easy or 'not fun' - then run as fast as you can and get the heck out - there will never, ever, be enough then for you... ever. Whatever the numbers are, they are just that (numbers) - for a 10-20 guy 1000 is a lot, so it is all relative. Is it the $'s or the excitement? When it becomes all about the $'s then you have lost it all, and it will get bad quick. We all like to win, and like the cash (who doesn't) - but when I hear that, this is why I got involved, and I want side income or will do this professionally - man you have missed the boat! (General comment, not you personally). You've all run into some good fortune, and some smarts along the way - that's great... know when to chill. When a 10-20 guy goes to 100-200, or a nickel dime guy goes to 10k-20k a game - nothing good comes out of it for the player - sure we all have our stories, and we all know this guy who did this or that - its just that - good stories - the best 'players' I have come around are the best money managers I have ever seen - whether playing games or in business - they are great money managers - those that are not, are usually entertainment players and are in it for the fun - the other 70-80% are a ticking time bomb. This is not meant to pick any one out - just a comment about what has been written - I do not judge. Experience = Value when you use it correctly. Ask some of the 'older' guys on the board - they will tell you stories and share comments to you -that not only will make you crap your pants, but be thankful you are where you are. I will leave it at that... Winning is a good thing, if you do good things with it!
